“Compliant?” Rio stood slowly, her eyes never leaving Agatha’s face. The action put her inches away, her body heat radiating out, searing Agatha’s skin. “Obedient?”
Agatha’s hips shifted against her will, her lips parting slightly. She closed her eyes against the heady mortification that razed through her chest. She felt Rio move closer and she parted her legs without thought.
Rio stepped between them but didn’t touch, hands settling on the desk inches from Agatha’s hips and hands.
“You always were such a brat.” Rio’s breath was hot against Agatha’s ear, her voice throaty and raw and filthy. “You never knew how to do what you were told.”
Or: After five years away, a still-grieving Agatha is dragged back into the FBI and the arms of her ex-wife.

Summary
Agatha meets Death when she’s at her lowest, trying to run from forced marriage and abusive mother. Death takes an interest in her and they make a deal- power for body and soul. The only problem- Satan (death’s father) wants Agatha all to himself.

Agatha’s heart raced, curiosity mingling with trepidation. “What do you want?” she asked, her voice trembling as the weight of the offer settled between them.“You,” Rio replied, her tone smooth and seductive, “I want all of you. I want you to serve me.”
Agatha’s laughter rang out, dark and brittle, echoing in the hollow silence of the room. “So just another prison, then.”
“Perhaps,” Rio conceded, a glimmer of mischief dancing in her eyes. “But this will be a prison of your choice.”
Agatha’s breath caught in her throat as she contemplated the implications. The idea of willingly stepping into a cage, even one crafted from her own desires, sent a shiver of uncertainty through her. “A prison of my choice?” she echoed, skepticism lacing her words. “What makes it different from the one I’m trying to escape?”
“First of all, I’m not a man,” Rio replied, her voice smooth as silk, a playful challenge in her tone. “And we both know your taste.”

Turns out, their friends are friends with each other and so they all become a merry band of adventurers in the post-work hours of Emon.
Everything changes when two of their friends and Vax's sister, Vex and Percy, a long time couple, become engaged. Not wanting to go to his sister's wedding alone, Vax asks his new friend Keyleth to be his plus one. Keyleth accepts.
It makes Vax way too happy she said yes. It makes Keyleth way to happy Vax asked her. They're both too busy to be a couple, they tell themselves. They're just there to support their friends.
But weddings take a long time to plan, with lots of sleepless nights, lots of disasters, and lots of cups of coffee.

"I'm not depressed," Harrow said, and was instantly aware of the fact that it was utter bullshit. Her parents were dead, Gideon had dumped her, and Ianthe was the only one who seemed to care that she was here. Depressed wasn't a strong enough word.
Consider this a modern dark academia ballet AU. Very The Secret History meets Tiny Pretty Things or Flesh and Bone. It's dark, but not as dark as it seems.

Somehow they actually manage to afford it for longer than a week. Somehow it ends up being even better than they thought it would be.
