For a moment, it’s only the evening sound of cicadas. The distant sound of a neighborhood dog barking. The heavy taste of Miyagi’s summer air on his tongue. The thump of Kageyama’s heartbeat, picking up seconds faster than it should.

Kageyama’s clad in a tee shirt now, so tight that Shouyou’s afraid the thread will snap, that Kageyama’s arms will tear right through the fabric and he’ll be left in the tattered remains.
He doesn’t think he’ll survive that.

He quickly snaps his jaw shut. “Am not!”
Kageyama’s eyes sparkle with amusement. Because he is the worst. “Whatever you say, dumbass.”

Summary
For all these years, he’s been able to read Hinata so well, the only person who has ever come so naturally to him. What he’s thinking, what he really means beneath his teasing words and remarks, what he’s going to do on the court, it’s all a well-read map to Tobio. And even though Hinata is surprising by nature, breaking expectations as easy as breathing, Tobio still knows him. Hinata can take him off guard, but Tobio still knows.
It's an extremely bitter pill to swallow: the knowledge that he might, just maybe, not have all of the pieces to Hinata’s puzzle.

Summary
Kageyama Tobio is not good at many things, but he is very good at a few things. First and foremost, he’s very good at volleyball. He knows he has a lot to improve, but he’s not one to use false modesty either. Tobio is, objectively, very good at volleyball. He’s also very good at eating fast. Tsukishima tells him it’s not really a skill, but whatever. Tobio is good at it. And the last thing he considers himself very good at is being in denial. Judging by the last few weeks, he’s well on his way to becoming a pro with the amount of practice he’s been — rather unwillingly — getting. And, like most things in Tobio’s life for the past year, it’s at least tangentially Hinata Shouyou’s fault.

And if the smile wasn’t shocking enough, Diego noticed something as Kageyama pulled off his practice shirt; a thin black cord looping around his neck, starkly contrasting against pale skin. Which was surprising enough (he didn’t peg Kageyama as the jewelry type), but what hung from the bottom of the necklace stopped Diego in his tracks.
There, dangling from the cord, light catching on its smooth surface, was a ring.
