Satoru laughs, “You’re making me sound pathetic, and Suguru told you about all of that? I am deeply betrayed.”
Blinking at him, Shoko frowns, “He already deeply betrayed you, that's the whole.” she pauses as she sways a little on her feet, “That’s the problem.”
“Christ,” Satoru says quietly. “You need to sit down or something. Drink water.”
“When was the last time you drank water!”
Satoru takes her by the elbow and leads her down the stairs. Which is probably a good thing, she might have fallen on her face if she attempted to walk back down them by herself.
“I’m not a house plant,” Satoru says.

Megumi wasn’t sure when it started. It probably never did, it must have just been a part of him since he first breathed. The panic. The hiding. Tsumiki didn’t know much about it, and Megumi would rather be caught dead than tell Satoru that seeing an empty pantry made him freak out. Because that was what it was. Freaking out. So he didn’t say anything, which was a big lie to uphold for a nine year old. It was going to fall apart eventually.

“Or sake,” Gojo adds, and his tone is so non-joking, so serious, that Megumi stares at him.
“You do realize that we’re all—”
“Right, right,” interrupts Gojo, waving a hand in the air. “I forgot. I’ll just get him mouthwash. Let’s stop by the convenience store on the way back.”

could very well be canon. and it nails their quiet dynamic so nicely because everything is so balanced out! :') megumi respects gojo as his teacher, gojo treats gumi to something sweet, he's carefully annoying and they both care about yuuji. the comfortable banter between them is just AUGHHH i need more of them in my life.
oh author, whichever new account you've created, i hope you one day come back to this fic and read this comment and thank yourself for powering through the fic and not giving up

He doesn’t think he’s seen Ieiri Shōko blush once in his damn life, but it’s nice to pretend she isn’t immune to his irresistible charm. Easy behind the blindfold, too.
‘Let’s fix this first,’ she sighs, tugging at the end of a bandage. ‘I have some clippers in the exam room.’
If Satoru’s eyes weren’t already shut, he would have blinked. ‘What do you need clippers for?’

Summary
A small, dark part of Megumi is glad Gojo is taking this lightly. Apparently Yuji wasn’t all that special to him. The thought makes him feel guilty, but that emotion is preferable to the crush of grief and fear and regret that he feels over Yuji’s death. So he lets himself stew in it, as a distraction.
He’s sad that Yuji is dead, but Gojo’s not, and that is a relief.

it's just hurtful to read this beautiful fic but this is the truth. most of what we see about gojo n megumi being dadjo and son is all fandom-built. the on page dynamic was just this. gojo is the benefactor. it's brilliantly written, even if I don't want to accept this fic as canon T_T
