“hah….” Kaveh sighs, cracking his neck side to side. It’s been four hours since midnight. The sun is about to rise and he haven’t got an ounce of sleep! His neck hurts like shit and his room is a total mess, there’s paper scattered everywhere, inks and blueprints,
Every thing hurts. Not just his neck but there is also a dull ached in his lower back, his head hurts like shit too, his throats feels like he just swallowed a sand by how dry it is. I’m probably dehydrated, he thinks.
He couldn’t even feel his wrist, numb from all sketching and drawing, for like what? 10 hours? He’s not sure. He can’t even remember if he has eaten anything for the past couple of hours he spent finishing a project.
“Archons, ’m so fucking tired.” Tears started forming in his eyes, Kaveh hated how sensitive he is, he feels so empty and alone. Crying over something stupid.
“Kaveh” Kaveh flinched, he whipped his head towards the door. There, stands Alhaitham at his doorway. Gripping his doorknob and staring at him, wide eyes.

What are we?
The question rang through Kaveh's mind. They're not exactly friends. Friends don't fuck each other, right? Lovers are not the right term either. Even though Alhaitham didn't say anything, Kaveh knows that they are not and will not be lovers.
Because Kaveh is Kaveh, and Alhaitham is Alhaitham. They are the opposite: they contradict each other's ideas, they always bicker over small things, and they let their emotions take over. Kaveh might be irrational sometimes, but it's Alhaitham's fault that he always opposed Kaveh’s ideas and opinions. He always looks for mistakes in Kaveh. Or that's what he thought.
Or, Kaveh overthink his relationship with Alhaitham. Got drunk and confesses his love for his roommate.

Shen Qingqiu stood in the middle of the hall, gaze turned to look out the large doors to the side into the sweep of forest and fog covered mountains. His hair was down, falling almost to his calves and his robe was thin, barely more than a sleeping robe. Liu Qingge paused. He'd never seen Shen Qingqiu in less than three layers. Since Shen Qingqiu's qi deviation, he'd stopped dressing so fastidiously, no longer favoring high collars and sleeves that reached down to his fingers, but he still never walked around like this.
There was something else strange, too. Something in the set of his shoulders, or the tilt of his head, like he'd walked a long way to get here and still could not rest. His gaze was distant. Not cold like Liu Qingge had suspected, but flat. There was no derision or joy there. There was nothing at all.

Summary
Kaveh regrets ever accepting this new commission. It is not the pay nor the project itself – both are to the architect’s satisfaction. No, the problem is the client and her obsession with Kaveh.
She believes them to be “destined for each other” and takes Kaveh’s rejection as playing hard to get. In his desperation Kaveh lies about having a boyfriend, a certain scribe he shares a home with and is oh-so madly in love with. Now he has to convince Alhaitham to play the part, when his client insists on meeting the “love of his life”.
