“Nico,” Will said softly, “What happened?”
Nico’s face crumpled and he squeezed his eyes shut, shaking his head as he trembled. Will squatted down, hesitating for just a moment before he placed a hand cautiously on Nico’s face, cupping his jaw. Nico sobbed again but leaned into the touch anyway as if there was ever a world where he wouldn’t. “Nico,” Will repeated, his voice gentle but demanding, “I need you to tell me what happened.”
“You left,” Nico whispered, blinking his eyes open, “You left and it hurts and I don’t know how to make it stop hurting.”
