Sure, they've saved the world, but the best part of that really is that it doesn't end there and in a town where everyone thinks he murdered a girl, he's at least got Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley. It's really not his fault he accidentally starts living at Steve's house, he was invited, after all. There's a mystery too, about Barbara Holland and Steve's pool.
“Your boner is digging into me,” says Robin, and Steve snorts a tired sort of laugh.
“I don’t have a —”
“You do, I can feel it. Gross.”
“Okay, but it’s only a little one,” he says in a small voice which sounds like he’s impersonating someone.
“Are you ever going to let that go? I peed a little bit when the Russians got the torture devices out, okay?” She sounds amused, though.
Eddie jolts. “Russian torture devices?”
Robin carries on like she didn’t hear him but Steve catches his eye and he’s grinning. “How do you even have a boner dude? You were definitely having a nightmare I know your twitching means a nightmare… Did you have a boner over Vecna?”

Annoyingly enough, it takes several minutes for Eddie to notice.
“No, not the flannel,” Eddie warns when he finally glances over, closing his notebook slowly and putting it to the side. “You’re holding half my wardrobe hostage already!”
Steve snickers, standing up and backing away a few feet.
“I guess you’re just going to have to come get it, then.”

He even allows himself a moment to think that maybe his luck has turned around. That after the explosion at his place and all the sneers from the Council and the way any hope had seemed impossibly far away just a day ago, now things are looking up. Now he has a partner and they've solved the equations and they're going to get his equipment back and maybe it will actually all work out.
Until he hears the sound of shoes, of someone walking towards them, and realizes that they're fucked.
Viktor must realize it too, because he immediately grabs the key ring and shoves the whole thing into his pocket in an instant as Jayce fumbles to click the light off. He's already trying to come up with some sort of excuse, some kind of plan, when Viktor, swift as anything, surges to his feet, fists a hand in the collar of Jayce's shirt, and hauls him in to press their mouths together.
Day Four - Free Day: Viktor comes up with another excuse for why they're skulking outside Heimerdinger's lab that still involves access to his bedroom.

Weird. Weird. Viktor had looked so pleased just a few moments ago. Almost glowing. Maybe even happy, for a split second; the sort of thing he only ever is when one of his prototypes turns out successful. Jayce had managed to land a comment smart enough to wring a laugh out of Viktor; and he'd smiled like they were having fun, but now here's that thing again. The borders, the quiet nudging, pushing him away as if he's unable to recognize it. No one else does this to him, not anymore; not when his face is on the newspapers and his name is on everyone's mouths. It's only Viktor.
"Do you hate me?" Jayce asks, before he has a chance to process which words his mouth is forming.
It feels childish, out in the open cold, spoken like that. It feels like a stupid thought.

“No.” The word is simple, but spoken sincerely. Jayce sits next to him, taking one of his hands. “You are you, Viktor. Not the things you have done. When I look at you, I see my partner. No matter how you change, I will always see you.”
Or: more self-indulgent hurt/comfort for Viktor's new dysphoria after his transformation. Jayce loves him very much, and shows him that.
Disclaimer: I had no idea Viktor was asexual when I wrote this. As an ace person myself, I have considered it and decided to leave the fic posted, since ace people can still be active. Jayce certainly didn’t fault Viktor when the latter happened, knowing that if Viktor was snapping at him, he had to have been truly uncomfortable.
But Viktor didn’t do either, simply shaking his head. “No, not really. I am not in actual pain, I just feel…” Viktor paused, gnawing at his bottom lip and rubbing a hand over the swell of his stomach. “Twitchy.”
“Twitchy.” Jayce echoed, an eyebrow raising.
