    Summary

Even at the alter, General Ren does not smile. His expressionless gaze is cast on their joined hands instead as if it offends him. He does not lift his gaze until they rise from a deep bow, deeper than Dan Heng has ever had to in his life and it is for a man who has slain thousands of his people.

His smile slips when their eyes meet, a clash of green and red so vivid the world comes to a standstill to this single point in time.

After six years on the battlefield, Dan Heng meets defeat in the face of his consort.

    ~

In the aftermath of a bloody war, the way to a lasting peace treaty comes in the form of marriage; generals of their respective armies would be offered as consorts for the heirs of their nations. In the name of peace, Dan Heng reluctantly accepts the show of goodwill but seeing an enemy as a friend is no easy task.

It quickly becomes clear that his own people would sooner seek vengeance for their losses than to accept this political power play, even at the cost of their prince's life.

    Summary

“████. ████.” Phainon blinked dumbfounded. “I’m sorry?” Phainon asked. Mydei gave him an odd look. His entire body seemed to glitch in and out of existence. Steadily. Like a heartbeat. Once. Twice. Thrice. And then he steadied himself. “Are you alright?” Phainon asked worriedly. Mydei nodded slowly. “███ ████.” Phainon stumbled a bit backwards, just the slightest bit shaken and taken aback. Concern overwhelmed his boyfriend, who quickly closed the gap inbetween them, attempting to lay a comforting hand on Phainon’s shoulder. But, as Phainon braced himself for the moment of impact, he glitched right through it. This time, Mydei noticed it too. The two of them shared a confused look, confirming Phainon’s suspicions from the past few weeks.

He wasn’t going crazy. He wasn’t slowly losing his mind. Something oddly was going on. His dreams seemed too realistic to be just that. Pieces of conversations seemed to go missing. Certain events not taking place at all. Locations suddenly disappearing and knowledge slowly crumbling away. And overall, a quiet voice in the back of his head never seemed to quite shut up at all.

“Subject █████ attempt at the…” “failed.” “…perished,” “…progress has been rolled back.”

    Summary

Knights aren't supposed to love their liege.
But Phainon has never been good at doing what he's supposed to.

Sworn to serve Mydei, the cold and calculating Crown Prince of Castrum Kremnos, Phainon was trained to fight, guard, and obey. Falling for his liege was not in the curriculum— yet here he is, neck-deep in unspoken feelings and terrible decisions.

    His solution?
Slip anonymous love notes between the pages of the books that Mydeimos reads at the library of Castrum Kremnos. Not the smartest plan, but it beats confessing and getting himself executed, he thinks.

Mydei, on the other hand, is many things— disciplined, unreadable, sometimes terrifying— but he’s not immune to mystery. Or curiosity. Or the occasional flutter in his chest when he finds a folded note tucked beside a bookmarked passage.

    Summary

It does not take long for said visitor to kneel next to him and take his hand reverently. Then, Dan Heng feels his soft tongue lap up the blood, trailing upwards to the gash he made in his palm. His hand twitches as the gash is licked tentively—a mix of pain and pleasure. The blood that dripped from his hand, all of it, was tasted greedily like a sinful elixir. Yet, for the both of them, Dan Heng knows it is far from enough.

“Blade,” he spoke his name nonchalantly.

Blood becomes them, and they cannot untwist themselves from one another.

    They share a pulse, a mind, a body, a moment, a mouth.

They are tongue and fingers and teeth and lips and pulse and heart and veins, enwrapped in one singular organism. Should the need arise, he will be the weaker and succumb to the stronger, feeding and feeding and bending and following.

    A brief moment of yearning.
