“Humans have two hearts, question?” Rocky asks, tapping his foot again.
Grace chuckles again, tabbing back to the full-body illustration of a human, “No, humans only have one. In our chest, here.” He points to the ribcage.
Rocky hums, a little confused, curious melody, “Why Grace have two heartbeats, question?”

Summary
Grace was no medical doctor, but he could tell this guy looked like he was dying. And not dying in the sense of ‘all men go the same’ but literally about to die.
“Oh sugar,” he muttered
Should he help?
This was the only human - predominantly human, he amended, he had seen in years. Maybe sort of an asshole, he had used him as a shield, but he hadn't seemed to be trying to hurt him.
Option A: let him die
Option B: try to save himHis hand itched to write a pro-con list. The man moaned. It was such a human sound, the type of noise Grace had not heard in literally over a decade. Save him it was.
___
Grace returns to space, only to come face to face with the world of Iron Lung.

Grace finds Simon at his worst. Battered, beaten, and mutated by the blood Eel. He takes him in and rescues him. When he wakes up they immediately decide they can’t stand each other. A bit of a more in canon take on the two of them, I think they’d honestly be annoyed when first meeting and Simon definitely isn’t trusting anyone. Rocky just kinda pulls some shenanigans and makes things happen. First fic so I’m trying my best!!

Summary
Dr. Ryland Grace just moved into a new neighborhood thanks to a little bonus he received at work due to out-of-this-world test scores from his science classes. It's a modest home, 2 bed 2 bath, a nice kitchen, comfy living room, and a great view of the really attractive garbage man that services Grace's new street every Monday morning. After a literal run-into the mystery man, Grace makes (poor) attempts to apologize to the man, thus following the trials and errors of said attempts, which may lead down a more complicated path than either man expected...

Summary
It was hard to gander how long Grace was on Erid when Simon came along. He could try measuring it out using the Earth’s Gregorian calendar like he did on the Hail Mary, but that’s when he still had a “lights out” timer and didn’t live on a planet with a very different yearly calendar. Teaching little eridians has forced him to adapt to their schedule more than his.
Where was he going with this?
Right! Simon.
He still hadn’t met him yet.
Or Rocky and other eridians find a wormhole and then an injured human man! They bring him to Erid and quarantine him to get him nice and healthy, but slowly find out he’s much different than their beloved science teacher.

Summary
Simon just kept trying to breathe, his chest heaving up and down. His bleeding arm, still clenched and curled into himself, stung against sweat.
The blood on the ground divided the space between them, one hesitant and one wholly unwilling to cross it. Dr. Grace just kept looking at Simon with those wide, blue eyes.
“Hey…seriously, what is your name?”

God never existed.
Not to Grace. It was all science. Science explained everything. He didn't believe in a higher being.
Simon, however, did. He believed in the Tree; his sustainer, his god, his only object worthy of worship.
Until he met Grace. An angel.
His angel.

“Please,” he whispers, hoping the eel can’t hear him, “please, I want to live. I just want to live, I don’t want to die. Please don’t let me die.”
The turning of a new eye upon him feels as if he’s been scrubbed raw suddenly, the truth of him pulled from the dark places he’d made to hide it away as something answers him.
“What would you do if you were to live, little star?”
OR
Simon is rescued at the last minute by *something* and dropped onboard the Hail Mary at quite possibly the worst time. Ryland Grace is fresh off a horrible fishing trip and his best friend is comatose. As the most injured and broken versions of themselves, they meet.
