Summary
Hajime had an ordinary room, not unfitting for a perfectly ordinary Reserve Course student. There was a framed photograph on the wall of a young Hajime and what Nagito assumed were his parents. They looked to be at Disneyland, or some similar amusement park. Hajime was flashing a gap-toothed smile, holding an ice-cream cone in his hand. Nagito swallowed dryly, averting his eyes from the picture.
It didn’t matter that Hajime was loved at home, or that he looked like a happy kid. He was Reserve Course, and Nagito hated him.

Summary
It’s dark outside, but whenever they pass a street lamp, the yellowed lights stream in through the window and cast shadows on Saihara’s face. Even at this proximity, Amami can’t see his eyes, or the way his jaw is set. It’s difficult to tell what he’s thinking. Or at least, it would be, if Amami didn’t have an inkling about why Saihara called him to come get picked up. This isn’t the first time in recent weeks that Saihara has gotten into a fight with his uncle-- though it’s the first time that it’s gotten bad enough for him to have to leave-- and from the way Saihara’s voice sounded over the phone, shaking with barely restrained anger, Amami could hazard a guess.
It’s… stressful, fighting with family. Amami knows the feeling well, from all his screaming fests with his father-- though he’s pretty sure he’s past those by now, thankfully-- and it’s not something he would wish on anybody he cares about, that’s for sure.

Oh, he knows Ouma doesn’t mean it, sure; Ouma rarely cares so much about things like this, and when Iruma spins the bottle again, it lands on Saihara, anyway, so it’s not like Ouma has anything to lose, here, if Amami opts out. But it’s too close to a look he’s gotten from too many of his sisters too many times, and before Iruma can even finish the sex joke she’s making Amami is on his feet, walking silently over to the closet on the side of the room.
Never mind that Amami is claustrophobic. Best case scenario, Amami will dissociate through the full seven minutes, and Saihara won’t get offended, and they’ll both be able to leave without a scratch. Nothing against Saihara, of course, Amami likes him a lot, it’s just, ugh. Being in a closet with anybody sounds like a nightmare as a general rule, and Amami is already a little overstimulated from the party. This isn’t going to be fun.
It’s his own fault for not saying anything, though.

Hajime would give good hugs. He would smell like pine trees and ash, or whatever they put in men’s cologne. His hair would be soft after he washed it, just one strand sticking up slightly. Hajime would sleep in just an oversized t-shirt, maybe hug his pillow protectively when he went to bed. He probably had a nice singing voice, one of those where he whispers under his breath and you can hear the smile in his voice. Nagito would bet that he could do something skillful, like chess or skateboarding.

Maizono’s eyebrows raise at that. “You got a tattoo for a case?” She sits herself up, holding the blankets over her chest. (A silly gesture, considering that Kirigiri has seen her without them dozens of times by now, but Kirigiri has never been the judgemental type, and Maizono is modest on instinct.) “How important was it?”
“Important enough.” Kirigiri tucks her shirt into her pants. “I don’t rank cases based on severity. I’ll do whatever it takes to get justice.”
Well, Maizono knew that about Kirigiri already. It’s how they met, after all. This whole… meeting, business, didn’t start until years after Kirigiri solved the murder that brought them together in the first place. Maizono can’t help smiling at the memory.
