    Summary

It feels like the world has slowed down, the chirping of crickets fading to the background, the sweat cooling down on his neck ceasing to bother him.

The words on his back burn, scorching and leaving him with a feeling that hurts like heartache but sings like love.

“What else do we need but pride?!”

So it’s you, Kei thinks faintly, as he watches the moonlight shine on Yamaguchi’s face, the clouds shifting and highlighting the glint of his eyes and the curve of his mouth as he grabs hold of Kei’s collar and yells like he never has before.

And for the first time, Kei thinks he can see Yamaguchi, the way Yamaguchi has always seen him.

Or alternatively, a soulmate is one of the few things Kei has never understood. Until the words on his back are spoken by one of the only people that has learned to understand him.
