Summary
Next to Paula was Stuart, passed out, naturally; done in mostly by the pills he’d downed half an hour ago. He’d taken too many of them, Murdoc had noted, and he’d have to deal with that later. Stu’s head was on the bar, and Paula’d just been brushing his hair with her fingers ever since he dropped off.
It made Murdoc so angry he wanted to kill her, or him, or both of them. He couldn't put a finger on why.

Summary
“You’re scared of whales, Dents. Whales. Of all the things to be scared of, it’s bloody whales. A kid has more backbone than you. You could've gone for sharks, chrissakes. Snakes. Spiders. Or even the zombies from those horror films you like so much. That would've been more respectable. Not by much, but at least they aren't whales.”
This is a story about fears.Murdoc finds out 2D's weakness and the paradigm of their relationship shifts, ever-so-slightly.
2D finds out Murdoc's, and it changes completely.

Summary
In a trademark manipulative Murdoc Niccals PR move, Murdoc tactfully rewrites the narrative around Plastic Beach, smoothing it over, making it so the public forgets how bad it really was, how bad he'd really been. He makes 2D play along. They pull it off so well 2D knows that if he told the truth, not a single soul on earth would believe him. And he has to try and live, knowing that.

Summary
Maybe 2D was just something of an attention whore, like Murdoc had said, and he wasn’t really being exploited at all, since he got what he wanted in the end, even if the entire process made him feel like some sort of doll being used as a prop as his hands shook imperceptibly with a nagging feeling of helplessness and the thought that he was in way over his head.
At least he was getting attention.

Summary
“I just wanted to get back on the same page,” said Murdoc. “You make things so fucking difficult.”
“I make things difficult?” 2D echoed. “You’re the one who came in and cuffed me to my bloody bed. That’s not fucking normal!”
After coming back after years apart to record Demon Days, Murdoc tries to talk 2D out of his newfound independence in perhaps the worst way possible.

we know him, the Walrider says.
Do we? You’re sure you don’t.
stole your car, the Walrider says, and you jolt.
What, just now?
The Walrider helpfully reminds you of how you stood smoking and crackling with your new twofold being, stranded like a fucking idiot while some ragged bloody disaster in a patient’s uniform drove your rig off into the night. This is that guy?Bookmarked by vrl
