Jackie Taylor was nothing other than an ordinary high school senior. She was the brand new captain of the soccer team at Midtown High. She was finishing up her college applications and awaiting her acceptance (or, god forbid, rejection) letter from Rutgers University. She was definitely not secretly in love with her best friend, Shauna Shipman. She loved her boyfriend Jeff Sadecki very much. And she was ready to finish high school with the best year of her life.
She wasn’t anticipating being bit by a radioactive spider while on a school field trip. She certainly wasn’t anticipating becoming a superhero.

Natalie Scatorccio was going to fail English class because she didn't know what a goddamn hero was. Which was pretty unfortunate considering that was the whole premise of the 3-page paper that was due by next week.
It's only when she's bitten by a radioactive spider and suddenly gains the ability to catch a bus with her bare hands does she stop to think that maybe the answer was closer than she thought.
But that paper would have to wait, she had a city to save and her coach's kind of mysteriously hot son to crush on.
