Summary
Sometime between Link’s endless trips to rid of all the monsters Ganon had so kindly created, Zelda had insisted she come along on one. She badgered him about a, “buddy system,” and he’d argued that there’d been no, “buddy system,” for the entire stretch of time after his awakening, but she’d been adamant about accompanying him on his trip to the Great Plateau. Link didn’t want to endanger her, but he also knew that arguing with Zelda after she’d put her mind to something was a fruitless endeavor, so he’d simply sighed and nodded. Zelda had looked beyond relieved for a beat before she covered it up with a curt, satisfied nod.
If Link didn’t know any better, he’d say Zelda was worried about him.
And maybe she had a right to be, Link thought, as he felt a club made of bone thwack his temple with so much force he was knocked off the edge of the snowy cliff. Maybe, Link mused as he felt icy cold water hit his back and swallow him whole, Zelda’s voice screaming his name from a distance. Just maybe, this whole, “buddy system,” thing would be of use.

Summary
Her knight doesn’t react immediately. Instead, he shuts his eyes and takes a slow, concentrated breath, like he’s attempting to ground himself. The motion causes her heart to race a bit, alarm bells ringing in her ears. Just how exhausted is he? A hand comes to rest on hers, where she’s wiping a patch of dust off of his cheek with her thumb, and he finally opens his eyes again. The electric blue color that normally shines in his gaze seems almost pale and empty, like the very life has been drained out of them. “No,” He says, so softly she almost misses it, and then he begins to sway in place. “I’m sorry.”

Summary
In the quiet haven of Daisy's safehouse, Martin notices he is regurgitating cliche romantic lines from beloved movies in place of his own words when he should be finally able to tell Jon how he's felt about him all along. He becomes convinced this means The Lonely has stolen his ability to love from him and Jon has to reassure him that that, above all else, is a thing absolutely impossible to do.

Summary
You see, dear reader, all the best stories are laced with magic.
When Jon was a child they heard stories of Wordsmiths, those brave and brilliant creatures who wove their words into witchcraft. True magic was hard to come by, true storytelling harder still, and their gifts were treasured and praised in the sunshine-colored memory of Jon’s youth. Jon has long known the tales of the Wordsmiths speaking reality to the shape of their throats, tuning the world to the key of their songs.
And then King Magnus took the throne.
The King coveted the Wordsmiths’ magic. Coveted the power they wielded. It was not long before Jon was summoned to the King’s court and found themself proffering up their fear like a feast for the King’s ravenous stare.
And so we arrive here.--
A (very loose) 1001 Arabian Nights retelling, featuring our beloved storyteller and our favorite sappy poet.Previously participated in the campaign to raise awareness and start making changes to the OTW's long history of racism. more info here!

Summary
Jon’s voice cuts off with the sound of tearing paper, like the words themselves are being ripped from his throat.
He sucks in a sharp breath, ragged and hoarse, and Martin wants, badly, to comfort him; to take Jon’s face in his hands or hold him or ask him what the hell he just walked into. But getting rid of this statement feels more important right now. This thing was hurting Jon, somehow, so it needs to be gone, now.
Martin comes home early, and keeps up a long-running tradition of keeping doors locked firmly in Elias's face.

Summary
“Recording ends.” Jon hits the stop button on the recorder and stares at Martin, an unreadable expression on his face. Martin fidgets and tries not to squirm under the scrutiny. Jon rarely brings himself to look at Martin directly and when he does, his expressions range between mild irritation on good days and complete exasperation on bad ones, expressions Martin has no trouble interpreting, thank you very much. This look is something altogether different.

Summary
Jon is feeling a bit under the weather, nothing that bad but he still decides to go to sleep early hoping it won't get worse overnight. It immediately gets worse over night and now he can't sleep. That's fine, he could just wake up Martin and he could take care of it or at least comfort him while he's feeling awful. But... Martin looks so peaceful in his sleep and Jon doesn't want to bother him over something as trivial as a bit of illness. He could tough it out on his own for the night, right?

Summary
When the sky goes wrong and the world breaks around him, when the good cows mutate frightening and decidedly bad, when his mind and heart and being recoil from fear, Martin Blackwood thinks, stupidly and somewhat predictably, of T. S. Eliot. Of “The Hollow Men”. Of this is the way the world ends.
Except, for all that beautiful poetry, Eliot was wrong, because the world doesn’t end with a bang, sure, but it doesn’t end with a whimper, either. It ends with the distant-yet-deafening voice of the man Martin loves shouting through a ragged, wild throat--I open the door.
(The world ends, Jon shatters, and Martin tries to fix it. The house tries, too, in its own way.)

Summary
“You’re really suggesting this,” Martin says, voice pulled thin.
“Yes.” No hesitation.
“You would- actually do it?”
“I would.”
“With me.”
“Yes, Martin.”
“Why?” Because love is blind, says something cliché and cruel in the pit of his gut. Christ, he never was much of a poet, was he?Or,
When Jon asks Martin to Quit the Archives with him, Martin says yes. Things don't go as planned. In the Scottish Highlands, they hurt, and they heal.
