“How did you even get a raccoon?” Ranpo asked.
Poe wanted to roll his eyes, but he owed Ranpo at least a little grace after everything. “I’m sure you can deduce it.”
“Don’t want to.”
Oh. Ranpo's eyes were a little too earnest for him to stand. Was this really the same man from six years ago?
“What do you want, then?” he asked. Of course, he knew by now. But he had to hear Ranpo say it. He needed it like he needed air. Ranpo was closer now, and Poe could practically taste the sugar melting in his mouth.
Ranpo smiled. “I want you to tell me a story.”
Oh. “Then I suppose I’ll indulge you.”
Or—Poe rescuing a baby raccoon after a terrible storm.

Summary
Ranpo was never one to hesitate when it came to his desires, and Poe was thrilled to discover that this side of him more than extended to physical affection.
He did notice, however, that there was one thing his rival never mentioned. Not once had Ranpo expressed interest in sexual intimacy.
Poe was content with that. After all, Ranpo did have specific sensory needs—why wouldn’t they extend to the bedroom? He might not even be interested, and that was okay. Not everyone felt such desires. What mattered to Poe, in the end, was that he could make Ranpo feel happy, feel loved. He could make Ranpo feel safe.
Still, he wondered. If Ranpo ever did want to explore sexuality together, he would certainly tell him. Right?

“I…” Ranpo starts, before hesitating. Poe doesn’t like this look on him. Ranpo’s supposed to be confident, sure of himself.
Not curling in on himself.
“I-” Ranpo starts again, before he’s interrupted by another particularly loud ‘boom!’ of thunder, paired with an accompanying flash of lightning. He flinches, his grip tightening on the blanket as his brow furrows slightly.
And Poe suddenly has a very sudden realization.
‘Oh.’
“...I…can’t sleep alone during storms.”
‘Oh.’
OR
Ranpo stays over at Poe's one night due to a storm. Cuddling ensues.

Maybe forty-five minutes or a lifetime later, Declan was in just his boxers, lying on the tarp-covered studio floor, eyes closed. Jordan, in just her bra and overalls hung low on her hips, straddled his waist. She had a paintbrush in one hand and a joint in the other, her palette lay on the floor next to him. She moved across him to dip her brush into her own custom mixture of blues to match the color of his eyes and then dragged that color across his abdomen. His stomach jumped at the cold wet paint against him, but the pleasant buzz in his head kept him quiet. Occasionally Jordan would lean down and tap his lips with the end of her brush, he would open his mouth and accept the next plume of smoke with lips and tongue and teeth.

“Hm? What do you have in mind?” He prompts, leaning in further towards Edgar's space more than he'd care for.
He soldiers on despite the mild discomfort of the other's presence being so… close like this, aware that if he didn't ask now he wouldn't have the nerve to try again later on. “You know the body they found on the other side of campus near the woods this morning, yes?”
Poe proposes a challenge to Ranpo, one of them has to figure out why dead bodies keep showing up on campus before the week is over and uncover the culprit. Yet, their investigation leads to more questions than answers.
