Hiccup is Hela, Astrid is Asher.Everyone knew Hela was peculiar, ever since she was a kid.
It was not reduced to her physical appearance —bony legs, prosthetic and souped up foot, abundant freckles—, her own personality did not get on easily with others in the first attempts. Too awkward, sarcastic, with a sense of humour commonly mistaken as mockery and a blatant presence of self-deprecation at times.
It was no surprise her own birthday was as peculiar as her, then.
Her birthday was not overshadowed by any jovial festivity, it simply went undercovered until it occurred. A date that only happened every four years, no more no less.
Hela had the misfortune and blessing of being born on the 29th of February.

Sequel to The Coward's Secret.Gobber could not help but smile at how the heirloom bridal crown lightened her whole face up, bringing out the best of colours to match her deer-like emerald eyes, so similar to the Chief’s. The brunette hair, loose and free as it would not be seen after the wedding, coiled around her face in the most poignant way, so much like Hela, accentuating the faint red of her cheeks and lips. The finest of fur for the finest of women, hunted by her own father. The sparkle of the brooches did not level up the one in her eyes, determined and filled with barely contained excitement. It almost made Gobber shed another tear.
“Thor almighty,” he spoke, breathless, “what a sight fer sore eyes ya are, lass.”
Now Gobber understood what Stoick had told him about nostalgia, of time going by and seeing Hela grow.
Hela huffed and rolled her eyes, the smile never disappearing from her face. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let’s go.”
“Aye.” Gobber nodded, picking up the gift for the groom —a sword made by Hela herself, demonstrating her craftsmanship. “They are waiting fer us.”

Hela huffed an attempt of a laugh, though it died down quickly. With it, her own demeanor seemed to deflate along the slope of her chest. As an attempt to play it cool, she shrugged her shoulders in the same, characteristic way she did.
“Prepare for trouble and make it double, or whatever it is.”
Now it was the blonde’s turn to huff at her usual quips. “Well, you clearly did not prepare for it.”
Mockingly, her lips protruded in a petty pout.
