That tone, that voice—it was familiar, in a way. Yes—Xie Lian knew it well. That was his neighbour. They never talked much, but Xie Lian would always say “good morning” and “good evening” to him out of courtesy. What was his name? Jun Wu? That was it. How could he forget? They lived so close to each other, and Jun Wu conversed with his parents so often.
Carefully, Xie Lian moved his head and raised his gaze, wanting to see his face, just to be sure. The man was smiling.
“Aren’t you simply beautiful, Xie Lian?”
Xie Lian’s neighbour had a strange fondness for him. Who would’ve thought that it would turn out like this?

“Ah, shit, my bad.” Halbrand spreads a palm over his heart, mea culpa, looking genuinely apologetic—if it weren’t for the smug gleam in his eyes. “You probably don’t want to know that about your little sister. Pretend I didn’t say anything.”
Or: Galadriel's new boyfriend Halbrand visits for the weekend. He ends up teaching her brothers a thing or two about how to make her behave.
