One of the perks of being friends with Dan and Phil is that sometimes they invite Harry to see their celebrity guests.
One of the downsides of being friends with Dan and Phil is that sometimes they invite Harry to see their celebrity guests.
Specifically, Midnight Memories, Harry's absolute favourite band. Harry is certain he is going to utterly humiliate himself.
Except that apparently he did something right, because he keeps running into them, and then Louis invites him to do a collab. If he can just keep from passing out or saying something particularly stupid, maybe he'll somehow be lucky enough to get to call them his friends.
“Hey Haz,” Louis’ familiar voice came warm over the phone. “How’s it going?”
“Good, good,” Harry said. “Just looking through comments on the video.”
“How are they?”
“Interesting,” Harry said. “I think they ship us.”

except, as it turns out, falling apart happens in increments, and healing does, too: it happens when you gnaw a hole in your lip trying to keep quiet only to have the words escape; when you realize that the ghost you've been seeing out of the corner of your eye is yourself; when your best friend smiles, and you allow it to take your breath away.
it happens through the smallest of things: bird feeders, and cacti, and pasta shapes.

The way Simon’s smile would drop whenever Nick made a joke about him and Leah dating. The way his face would light up whenever Cal Price was within a 50 foot radius of him. The way he sang to Bram at the party, like he was trying to say the things he so desperately wanted to say, behind the voice, the words, of somebody else.
