Summary
“Your lungs have collapsed. You can barely breathe on your own. Aang’s been keeping you alive with airbending.”
Oh. That explains a lot. Zuko can’t do anything but choke in response.
Thankfully, the Water Tribe boy isn’t looking for a response. “Not even four hours ago, Katara was the only thing keeping you from bleeding out on the pier. You’re probably just minutes away from being back where you were then.” He accentuates his point by gently applying more pressure to Zuko’s injury. Fucking ow. “You need them. If you want to stay alive, you don’t try anything. Okay?”
Shit.
. . .
When his ship explodes, Zuko isn't so lucky to get away unscathed. No amount of firebending can protect him from the solid steel the explosion launches everywhere. His ship is lodged in his chest, and he can't breathe. He must rely on the Avatar to do it for him.

Summary
When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good.
Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story.
Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH. No slash, no romance. NOW COMPLETE!

A wonderful story. I read it in one go over the course of three days.

Summary
The story took a different turn after the Siege of the North when Zuko was captured by the Water Tribe.
A lot of prisoner trope, found families, and not-adoptions... And Zuko having to deal with more trauma than in the canon

Bookmarker's Notes
I've had a ton of fun reading through this story. It may not be as polished, language-wise, due to the author not being a native speaker, but if you like exploring psychological aspects in connection to imprisonment, then this will be interesting for you. Though, pay attention to trigger warnings, especially in the first part. In the first read-through, I didn't even read it in order and still enjoyed it.
The different parts show a variety of imprisonment forms, different types of captors, and the aftermath of torture on mind and body.
What I appreciated especially, are the unique OC's and how they spice up the story.I've started to translate this series into German, with the goal to improve the quality of wording, at least in my native tongue. It's been fun so far.

Summary
A letter from home? A letter from family? Well, Harry Potter knows he has neither, but all the same, it starts with a letter from Surrey. Whatever the Dursleys have to say, it can't be anything good, so Harry's determined to ignore it. But when the Potions Master forces him to read his letter, Harry gets sent down a path he'd never have walked on his own.
It will be a year of big changes, a year of great pain, and a year of Harry confronting his worst fears.
But from the most unexpected of sources, Harry Potter will finally get a chance to have that which he has never known: a family.A sixth year fic, this story follows Order of the Phoenix and disregards any canon events that occur after Book 5.

Bookmarker's Notes
Excellent take on psychologics in growing up under difficult circumstances, relationship dynamics as well as what it means to be a family with trials and errors. One of the best takes on realistic parent-child relationships that actually nurture and teach. Also, it shows everyone as very human and faulty at the same time. Even the best of intentions can go wrong with the wrong approach and that we can learn from each other. Every character goes their journey and I found it especially pleasant to read all the House references to describe someone's way of thinking.
A gigantic completed work that takes its time to go through all scenes, arches and the development, but keeps every bit interesting. It's probably not for the faint-hearted as it contains torture scenes, but it covers them really really well psychologically (including the aftermath over the course of a year) and I think reading it is an enriching experience. looking forward to read the sequels! -

Summary
Sometimes you have to sacrifice your dignity to protect your life. Sokka understood this. Zuko didn't, yet.

Bookmarker's Notes
Great example of a conceptualized fic. Heavy themes, non-romantized sexual assault, and interesting twists. Fair warning though: explicit and emotionally impactful, take it serious.
Well worded, built up, and rounded. Coming full circle with themes and twists.
On-Point characterization.
Thanks for writing this!
