Dante didn’t make a production out of the drive. He just needed to drop off a borrowed ring of keys at a nondescript tenement building on a rainy weekday night. He didn't warn you about the bare third-floor room, he didn't warn you about his brother's icy disposition, and he certainly didn't mention that trading insults in dead languages was a prerequisite for surviving the introduction.
(Or: The night Dante realizes you speaks fluent Vergil, and Vergil realizes his brother might have actually made a good decision for once in his life.)
