Work Text:

"Looks like it's just the two of us," Kojiro said aloud, smiling with his hands on his hips. The hustle and bustle of business was good for Sia la Luce, but he never grew tired of the lull at the end of the work day.

"Yes, I can see that." Kaoru replied, arching an eyebrow, sitting across from Kojiro, and nursing his drink. "We both can. At least I can hear myself think again."

"Admit it, you like being here," Kojiro laughed. "And not just because it's a great meeting place for your clients."

Kaoru looked up from his drink. "That may be, but whatever is good for my work is good for me." His gold eyes met with Kojiro's red-auburn ones. "Even as you deal with malcontents in your restaurant."

Kojiro smirked. "And yet, you still come here, just before closing time." He poured himself a drink, the good wine this time, perfect for the occasion.

"And, and, with drinks on me." He then walked from behind the counter, and sat on the barstool right next to Kaoru. "How convenient is that?" Kojiro continued, with a wink.

Kaoru felt his face grow warm; perhaps it was both flattery and the alcohol going to his head. Surely he hadn't been drinking that long?

wink and a smile, it works every time.

Kaoru blinked, and then let out a flustered laugh, before clearing his throat.

"You're still so predictable, you big lug." Kaoru said, a smile growing on his tired face, raising his glass.

Kojiro shrugged, lifting his own glass. "I'll drink to that, Kaoru."

They then clinked their glasses together, and they did just that.
