Chapter Text
Bang! Crash! A badnik exploded into the wall.
“Hey, hey, Hey! Slow down, Shadow! We can barely catch up before you speed off again!” cried out rouge, the bat, who was now huffing and wheezing.
“YOU ARE MINIMALIZING MY CHANCES OF MASS DESTRUCTION.” Omega fumed, literally, steam coming out, before running forward and trying to block Shadow’s path and to stop him from doing more damage. Finally heeding their words, he turned to face them.
“What were you thinking?? The whole point of this mission was to sneak in, sneak out. Not attract the attention of the entire city! What's got into you?!”
Shadow merely shrugged his shoulders in response, barely acknowledging Rouge’s outburst.
Personally, his head was killing him. Weirdly enough, all he wanted to do was sleep. He was the ultimate lifeform! He didn’t need sleep! ‘Must’ve been some toxins or something in the building.’ he guessed without putting much thought into it.
Brrrrring! “Drat! We’ve been caught! Move out!” she called out to her team as she pressed a button on her phone.
“I DETECT FORTY MEATBAGS OUTSIDE. SHALL I PULVERISE THEM FOR YOU? Omega asked, secretly hoping for more violence.
“No! Urggghh, we can’t, Omega. We can’t let anyone know that we were here. We’ll find another way out.” Rouge, turns to face shadow.
“Can you chaos control us a way out of- Shadow?” She glanced into his face. He looked like a zombie with huge bags under his eyes which were cloudy and unfocused.
Everything was getting muffled and fuzzy round the edges and he could barely see Rouge shouting in the distance. On Rouge’s side, she was exchanging worried glances with Omega.
Distantly, she could hear explosions in the distance and metal crashing into metal.
“...hey shadow, earth to shadow, we’ve got to go now!” The explosions were progressively getting louder along with the worry in her voice.
Suddenly, she heard a thump and Shadow was now on the floor.
“SHADOW!!!” she screamed “Omega we need to get out of here NOW! You grab Shadow and follow me!”
***
As Rouge and Omega made their way through the facility, Omega carrying Shadow bridal style through glowing pods of neon green liquid that were possibly radioactive, lit up the eerie cavern that was this place.
A ceiling window opened and a voice yelled to them to ‘get up’. A rope was cast down and Rouge and Omega willingly climbed up to greet their rescuers. In the plane was a well known two tailed fox and pink hedgehog.
“Thanks for the help, Ames. You too Tails.” Rouge said slickly, before relaxing into the tornado’s seat.
Amy gave Omega a questioning look regarding the unconscious hedgehog in his arms but he was oblivious to it.
Once the plane landed, everyone went their separate ways, agreeing to meet up and talk again tomorrow.
Omega carried Shadow home despite the attempts of the others for them to look after him.
His excuse was ‘HE WOULDN’T LIKE TO WAKE UP WITH YOU MONITORING HIM.’ That was the final decision so no-one questioned him after that.
No one noticed the flicks of chaos energy lining his fingertips.
