Summary
It’s a moment of clarity that hits him like a punch to the gut. All the progress he’s made in therapy, all the hard work he’s put into understanding his emotions and building himself up, comes crashing down.
The firehouse—his family—can be torn apart in an instant.
One person gets fired, another leaves, and the fragile sense of belonging he’s fought so hard to maintain shatters.
Buck realizes that what drew him to firefighting apart from saving lives—the excitement, the unpredictability—also means it can never be the stable home he longs for.
When he finally reaches his loft, the emptiness of the place hits him harder than ever.
There’s no warmth, no comfort, no sense of home. It’s just four walls and a roof, devoid of the love and security he so desperately needs.
There's nowhere that feels less like home than this place.// OR //

Summary
Denis is a 5.6ft Caucasian male who looked like he had a constant sugar high. He might actually be high but Buck doubts it. The man’s motto is ‘I’m high on life’.
“Buckley!” The man rushes towards arms out in search of a hug. Buck laughs and a brief memory of something similar happening years ago. He had a short stint of not liking hugs outside of sex when he was 22. Raising his hand to meet Denis’s head he maneuvers the shorter man into a headlock and proceeds to give him a noogie. “NOOO! My hair!”
Buck finally let's go of Denis after a few short seconds.
“Still don't like hugs, Huh?” Denis grumbles as he tries to flatten his hair.
“Naw man, that was for old times' sake.” Buck smirks as Denis’s jaw drops.
“So, you ruined my perfectly styled hair for no reason?” The man flounders and looks over at his friend holding the camera incredulously.
“You and I both know your hair was not styled. You think I forgot what your morning frizz looks like?” Buck raises an eyebrow, smirk still on his face.
Denis turns pink. “I–Buckley!”
