You were in your backyard innocently watering the newly sprouting plants. It was early spring so you could finally spend some time outside and not be caged in the house like the little birdie you were during the winter. You gently hummed a soft tune as you sprayed each crop with the equal amount of attention.
Tomatoes, eggplants, and cucumbers.. oh and the peppers. Peppers. You hated peppers with every fiber of your being but your husband Ghost forcefully planted them into “your” garden. There was nothing you could do about it anyway so you gave the little angry sprout some water too. All was going well until you heard the harsh, heavy thuds of thick boots repeatedly hitting the pavement as they inched closer.. and closer towards you. All was suddenly not well anymore… and it won’t be for a while.

It’s been a long time since Y/N has felt good. They thought they knew what it felt like (and what it was supposed to look like), but they were wrong. As time passes they graduate from university, find themselves in a rut. They do the same boring things day in and day out and haven’t been feeling much of anything lately. So, by default, adrenaline is no where in sight. Y/N gets the bright idea to make a trip to the local tattoo parlor to (hopefully) cure them. However, they don’t know what they want or if they even want anything at all. They are however desperate to feel something.
The employee at the shop has no trouble at all seeing that Y/N is not at all ready to be getting anything etched or poked into their skin. He knew it from the moment he saw them looking all starry eyed at the drawing on the walls. And it definitely wasn’t a surprise when they flushed all pink when he finally caught their attention.

This is a collection of little Simon Riley oneshots (because I can't commit to a whole fic that's scary) based VERY LOOSELY on ideas in Hozier's album Unreal Unearth. They all take place in the same little universe I built in my mind palace and the little prequel will explain it. Heavy themes will be touched upon so if that's not your cup of tea don't come over here!!! (it's not overly detailed but it is there). I went back and decided I wasn't happy with how the story was starting, so I rewrote the story! I went from 3416 words to 8334 words. I altered to shipping a bit and added more detail. I am working on chapter 2, and updating it in more than just detail. Thank you all for the Kudos and Comments!!
