Summary
According to King Emerys in KM Shea's fairytale retelling, the cursed elven generals were free of their curse, but not by his doing. "By the time I finally caught up with them, a young woman, a cobbler’s apprentice from Trieux, had already freed them.” He goes on to add that the breaking of the curse "involved love of a sort—and the girl did fall in love with one of my generals.”
Here's my attempt at filling in the sketchy details. :)

I was trying to get chapter 8 of The Elven Shoemaker to gel and instead my brain did . . . this. I figured I'd share. But, beware--it has spoilers if you've not yet read TES. (Edited to add: This would fit in the time frame of chapter 20 of the main story.)

This chapter is honey sweet and syrup sappy. It doesn't really advance the plot. It's SO SWEET! But, the editor in me knew it had to go.
The outtakes reel gives me an excuse to share the you're-gonna-need-a-dentist-when-this-is-over chapter with you. LOL! (Take that, editor-in-me!)

In some cultures, a bride-to-be is snatched and the groom is made to do various tasks to earn her back. From my research it seems that many times it is done all in good fun to tease the groom not to harm the bride in any way. It sounded to me like exactly the kind of thing Emerys and his generals would do to bait each other. So, I wrote it!
