Summary
At ten years old, Evelyn Swift-Kloss has recently become eligible to enroll in Pre-Teen/Teen Ballet class, where she will dance alongside fellow students, ages 10 to 16.
Evelyn has been dancing since she was four, and she loves it. Every Friday, she fastens the ribbons on her ballet shoes and lets her body move freely, then joins her family afterwards for homemade pizza night.
This night, however, Evelyn is left wondering how much space she is allowed to take up in the dance world, if any at all.
Or: Evelyn worries that she's "too big" to dance. Her moms disagree.
Or (Excerpt's Version): "I just..." Evelyn swipes away a couple of tears that touch her cheeks. She isn't even sure why she's crying. She just knows that her body isn't meant to contain these new, big feelings and thoughts. "Do you think I'm too big to dance?"

Summary
Karlie and Taylor are in the midst of building a life full of love and chaos with their three kids. When their ten-year-old daughter, Evelyn, starts questioning how much space her body should take up, her moms struggle with how to best navigate supporting her and their own mental health.
Or: Wholesome family fluff with a heaping dose of Karlie using sex as a means of coping with existential dread (and Taylor is very much okay with that, thanks for asking).
Or (Excerpt's Version): "I need you to remind me that this world still has good things about it," Karlie says, brushing her thumb against Taylor's lower lip. "I need you." The words aren't a request. Karlie isn't asking for permission, though Taylor feels no pressure to comply. Taylor knows that Karlie needs something to ground her. Something real and solid. Something that Karlie can control when the world feels like it's an inescapable burning globe of chaos and uncertainty.
"You've got me," Taylor says, her eyes not leaving Karlie's. "You've always got me."

Summary
Taylor has spent her entire career reinventing herself and, most recently, rewriting the metaphorical manuscript of her life. No longer does she find herself ensnared by binding legal contracts, abusive and controlling men, and the war against against her own body.
That is, until she finds the battles that she fought and won now being reflected back to her in the eyes of her ten-year-old daughter, Evelyn.
Now, Taylor is terrified that she has passed on to her daughter the same struggles that she would rather leave buried.
Or: Evelyn asks Taylor if she looks fat. Taylor wishes that she could scream. Instead, Taylor chokes on silence and hates herself for it.
Or (Excerpt's Version):
Evelyn jerks away from the window to look at her Mom with wide, unblinking eyes. When she speaks, her words are darting. "Why?" The word is spoken too loudly, too abruptly, for the small space, and Taylor can hear the panicked strain in her daughter's voice. "Do I look fat?"Taylor feels as if someone punched her in the gut and knocked all of the air out of her lungs. Her palms feel clammy. Where the fuck did that thought come from?
