'Richie,' Eddie shrieks, 'that's not my leg!'
'Whoops!' Richie laughs nervously and shakes his deviant hand as if burnt.

Richie didn't remember his childhood. He rarely thought about it, honestly. But when he did, he didn't mean to. He'd see someone in red running shorts or a colored polo, he felt something he didn't understand:
He felt a longing.
It wasn't sexual or anything. It was... sad. Like he was missing someone terribly. But it didn't make sense, so he tried to ignore it for as long as he could. It wasn't until he was getting sued for property damage, which he didn't do, thank you very much, and Steve, his agent, hired a risk assessor for some weird reason.
As soon as Richie sees him, the longing that he'd ignored for most of his life hit him harder than ever.

There were seven of us in what we fondly referred to as the Loser’s Club, and only one hammock, so we had a ten-minute rule in place, and we didn’t stick to it, but my best friend, Eddie, he only cared about the timer when it was me in the hammock. Any of the other losers and he didn’t give a shit, but if it was me then he would set an actual, real timer on his watch and the second it started beeping he would stare at me with one bitchy eyebrow raised until I started arguing with him.
One time, I refused to get out of the hammock so after cussing me out he just climbed into the fucking hammock. I shit you not, New York, this asshole decided that the only option was to get in the hammock with me, and push my glasses off with his foot. And then he kicked me in the face!
