“God Davey, you sure know how to give a guy a heart attack,” Crutchie held his chest and let out a breath of annoyance disguised as surprise.
“Sorry. I just-” He sighed, bouncing slightly on his heels, “You lied,” he pointed out.
Crutchie pinched the bridge of his nose. “And I formally apologize for that Davey, now can I help you with something or would you like to get on to the evening edition.”

“Hey look there's Denton!” Specs exclaimed, pointing down the sidewalk where Denton was rushing to meet them. Jack turned quickly but he was soon disappointed when he realized the man was walking alone.
“Where is everyone?” David asked as soon as Denton was in earshot, the urgency clear in his voice.
“The judge said they’d already been bailed out, they didn’t even make it to court,” Denton explained.
The strike takes an unexpected turn for the worse after a particularly bloody protest and Jack has to grapple with his guilt and an unwarranted betrayal.

Les had seemed intrigued enough to sell with the guy, especially after seeing the cowboy’s stunt with those other boys earlier near the statue. David’s shoulders still ached from where the boys ran into him.

Now that they had a plan in place all they had to do was set it in motion. The only problem was that they knew they wouldn't stand a chance without Brooklyn at their backs. Unfortunately, that meant that Jack needed to talk to Spot and they haven't seen each other since the disaster back at the rally which has left resentment festering between them.
Luckily for Jack his boys refuse to let him travel to Brooklyn alone knowing that the tensions were so high. All he has to do is convince Spot that he wasn't a rotten scab. That couldn't be too hard, right? Who was he kidding, he was a dead man walking.

He couldn’t say he wasn’t terrified at the sight, because his body was betraying him to its fullest extent.
