Taking it in her hands, a soft smile played on her lips. She brought it up to her face, buried her nose in it and inhaled deeply…blueberries, grass, leather and smoke…she thought wistfully.
It was a leather jacket. One that belonged to her mate, who had been off traveling for work for at least two months. With a look of happiness that could only be rivaled by a chubby toddler, Ashira made a mad dash for the stairs, fangs glinting in the lamp light of her open mouthed smile.

Elrond had long told Aragorn stories of the elves of Mirkwood, nestled in their fir, secluded and deadly. Rarely did they interact with the other realms of Middle-earth- even trade through the wood was scarce. Most Eryn Lasgalen elves grow up never learning Westron, though the language had swept over nearly every other section of the realm.
This fact comes back to bite Legolas days too late.
OR
Legolas has a Sindarin accent and speaks slightly broken Westron. He misunderstands innuendo and forgets certain words.

"Old West" Aziraphale and Crowley stumble across a triceratops in the jungle. Rodeo cowboy instincts overthrow Crowley's resistance to ride anything that's remotely horse-shape.
This is a fun little exercise in script writing I bashed out for Obliquity's Collaborative Writing Workshop at Ineffable Con 6. The prompt was something like "Dinosaurs and Cowboys in a Jumanji setting."
Chapter two is a rewrite with plain English, just in case my depiction of a kid's understanding of cowboy dialect is a garbled mess.

Used to training together, Shiro walked closer to him and got into a defensive position. Pulling up a memory from while he had still been healing and getting used to the layout of the house, Keith's expression turned blank.
“Not you,” he said flatly. Shiro blinked dumbly as he stood back up properly and watched him point at their host. “Her.”

“Are you sure it's okay?” Mokona asked the minute Kurogane had slid the door open, flying up to greet him. He wasn't sure if the little creature just inherently knew what had happened or if it had managed to hear them somehow, but he wasn't about to question it. Mokona was much more mysterious than he'd first thought all those years ago.
“Of course it is,” Kurogane said defensively. “Why wouldn't it be?”
“...because you just gave up your home and good graces for me...” said a voice from the balcony. He noticed the breeze blowing in from the now open doorway on the opposite side of the room. It had grown dark outside, a storm brewing as the clouds came in. As such, the only sign that Fai was even outside was the bright, blue eyes looking back at Kurogane.
