Summary
Jack Kelly and Davey Jacobs, two fresh out of college music producers, are looking for a job. Unfortunately for them, no one wants to hire two inexperienced 23-year-olds to write music. That is, until they get a chance to audition for the job of writers for Katherine Plumber, a famous indie musician. Katherine needs a commercial jingle to advertise her new perfume, and Jack and Davey are positive this could be their chance.
Things don't quite go smoothly, however. Between Davey's unresolved feelings for his best friend, Jack's obliviousness, writer's block, and a lot of misunderstandings and escalations, Jack and Davey almost lose their friendship. Thank god for Katherine, because she's the only thing keeping these idiots in line.

David wasn’t expecting to be roped into selling papes the way that he did, especially by Manhattan’s famous Cowboy. Les had seemed intrigued enough to sell with the guy, especially after seeing the cowboy’s stunt with those other boys earlier near the statue. David’s shoulders still ached from where the boys ran into him.

Summary
In the aftermath of Santa Fe, an all too close encounter with Snyder leaves a shaken Jack reeling. The strike on Newsies Square was an absolute failure, and Jack Kelly knows it's his fault. He knows, he knows he should have been there and if the image of Crutchie, helpless and carted off to the Refuge burn into his brain until he wants to collapse into his dream, need, for Santa Fe until this nightmare seems a little brighter he knows he doesn't deserve it.
What Jack Kelly was not counting on was Davey appearing at the edge of the rooftop, soft, hesitating, and undeniably concerned as he stepped closer to a dreamer who is veering closer and closer to falling apart.
Lucky thing one Davey Jacobs is nothing if not stubborn, and there's not a chance he's leaving Jack alone like this.

Charlie was quick to back his older brother up, “Yeah, do you want us to become hermits? Because that's what keeping us captive here all night will do!”
Medda rolled her eyes, “You will not become hermits by staying in for one night. It won’t be too bad, you can break into our Halloween candy and put on some horror movies, and Ester will be here with David soon. No kids are going out tonight, it’s just a safety precaution. Especially because of recent events.”

David 'Davey' Jacobs had never been a confident person, and he never liked the thought of touching others or being intimate with any other person. He'd never look at women, never think about that part of human nature, nor has he ever wanted to.
When he overhears the other Newsies, and his little brother, discussing his repulsive nature towards women, he breaks down. And only one person can console him and make him see that - actually - he is perfectly natural and not at all "disgusting".
