I imagine Wade sitting at Nate's kitchen table with, like, this sea of papers. And when Nate asks what he's doing, he throws up his hands and says, "If I send him the cake before the balloons, he won't understand the context and it'll be almost as bad as if I just sent him a greeting card!" Which is how Nate learns that Wade is planning a sixteen-step marriage reveal . . . and also how Nate talks him down off the ledge and into a, let's say, more sensible surprise.
That said, I think they also trolled everyone at work and let them each figure it out on their own. Carol SHOUTED and literally walked out of the room. Bobby stared, his brain unable to fully compute the revelation. Emma rolled her eyes.originally, I planned on writing the ceremony, which included Nate using his middle name. Like, them needing to repeat their names early on in the ceremony, and Nate just dropping his middle name in there and watching Wade's face. And although I decided against writing the ceremony, I think that's still what happened--and that Wade couldn't remember his own name because he was so elated to know Nate's middle name.
But all that said, Wade won't want the world to know that he now knows. Which means that Nate will always be Nate Open-Faced Turkey Sandwich Summers. (And Nate will always love him for it, so.)Hope sees them with a sort of honesty they'd never admit to, you now? They'd both underplay how much they love each other and how affectionate they are; Hope sees it as it is and isn't afraid to share it. (And it's so good for her to see their brand of love, I think.)

He’s sitting here holding hands with Vanessa and Cable, and he has no idea what Wade will think. He can certainly see Wade's eyes doing a rapid one-two-three flicker between them.
