At the end of Cable & Deadpool #35, after Nathan linked Wade's subconscious to the infonet and then confronted him before he could go on a killing spree, Nathan and Wade have a longer talk on the roof of Wade's apartment building. And that talk is about their feelings.
...Wait, what?
Obviously, there must have been some suspicious, plot-related, talk-about-your-feelings pollen floating around or something, in order for such an OOC thing to happen. Obviously.
It just takes a while for Wade to realize it. And by the time he does, it's too late to stop it.
(This is totally not as sappy as it sounds - it's actually mostly Wade angsting, and Nathan realizing that he doesn't actually know everything.)

Summary
Peter just wants to relax after last year. He hit a rough patch, and Deadpool helped him get through the worst of it. After identity reveals, therapy, and a few explosions, things have finally started to settle down for them both.
But just as Peter's getting into the swing of things, a strange man with a metal arm shows up claiming to be a time-traveller. He says Peter is the only one who can help him save mutant kind.
Peter finds himself pulled from his home and dragged through different dimensions as he and Cable search for the key to their survival. Meanwhile, they keep running into different versions of Peter's boyfriend. It seems that everything connects back to Wade. Cable thinks it's just a coincidence, but Peter is sure there's a deeper reason behind it all.

The Fisherman, always in a state of decay, was a pillar of melting wax. Its pitted skin hissed and foamed, big drops melting to the floor. Its dark eyes drooped, one noticeably lower than the other, like a child’s rough sculpture of the monster under the bed.
