Adrift on the highest level of the Astral Plane, the Chosen King seeks a different outcome for his awful fate. Incensed by such flagrant defiance of destiny, The Draconian decides to mete out punishment so severe, that it could now tear all seven levels of Immortal Realm apart. Not even an Astral is safe in the place they call home.
Trapped in this new nightmare Plane inhibited by sour gods and regretful divines alike, a man without memory who holds on to the name of Noctis is tasked to fight his way out, one damned level at a time.

Gather and allow me to tell you the story of Ardyn Lucis Caelum as I believe it unfolded.
This is a canon compliant-rewrite of Ardyn's origin told using sources from Final Fantasy XV, its lore and supplemental material before Dawn of The Future's retcons and discrepancies, but I did include some of the book's ideas that I felt worked. This rewrite was made as a labor of love for FFXV and Ardyn, I wrote this not to disrespect DOTF or its scenario writers, this story is simply how I would have written Ardyn's backstory and I hope you enjoy reading it!

“I’ll show him.” Noct hisses, as he rearranges the pillows. “Stupid Prompto, and his-” he smooths the satin cover, “stupid blonde hair-” he squashes the sides together, engorging it to a plump volume, “and his stupid blue eyes-” he punches the pillow, watching the resultant dip in the middle, “and his stupid grin-”
Noct stares, panting and incensed, at his pillow. It’s plumper than it was before, but there are also bright yellow feathers drifting alarmingly at its sides.
Looks a bit like his godsawful chocobo hair, now, Noct thinks victoriously.
Or, 21k of awkward Noct getting himself into awkward situations with a nearly-as-awkward Prompto, except in a medieval setting this time.

Noct watched the lake water lull against his ankles, not paying any mind as his bobber drifted lazily against his line. It was always a little off-putting, how warm the water was in his dreams despite it supposedly being nighttime, but Noct always wrote it off as a Carbuncle quirk. The little blue spirit’s whole thing was making sure he had good dreams, and freezing lake water didn’t really rank high on Noct’s list.
