Summary
Out of sheer determination, Frisk decides that Asriel will not turn back into a souless flower. They also decide to revive the seven other fallen children, including their own personal narrator. Determination is a wonderous power, isn't it ?
Surely, nothing could go wrong with this.
But of course, as simple as life through the eyes of a child (who had at one point unfathomable power in their hands) is, it isn't to the numerous grown ups around. Much to every human child's dismay, they are taken in by the human government soon after monsterkind is freed. It is said to be temporary, the time for them to undergo medical exams and to find their remaining relatives yet.
None of the fallen children appreciate the ordeal, as expected. One more than the rest.

Chara saw Clover study their face. It didn’t move. They frown. They frown. When was the last time Chara had seen that? They never frowned. When they were upset, their face fell blank. They’ve seen them angry, happy… afraid. But genuinely upset? Sad? It tore them apart knowing they had caused Clover to frown after so much time without. Their following words hurt worse.
“I can’t.”

Summary
Chara grows sick of the human repeating the same bloody path over and over. They decide to revise the deal's terms, and from now on will themself back to life thanks to the SOUL's DETERMINATION to follow the kid to ensure themself a different path will be taken.
They come to regret that hasty decision pretty fast. Seemingly, no plan of theirs is ever really thought out.

Summary
Chara is completely fine with watching their world come to ruin over and over again. Even if those are the people they loved dying over and over again. Even if that is their mother sobbing as her body fades away, or their father not even being allowed his last words, or the vestiges of their dead brother sobbing as he is crushed into nothing.
It is their job to narrate, after all. Even if this pathological facade of theirs is unnatural, it would be improper of them to let their true feelings through, wouldn't it?

Chara gets tired of watching everyone they've ever cared about die, punctuated with Icarus metaphors stretched further than the original myth allows (and a reference to a GHOST and Pals song, because I could not resist).

Summary
Hm. Well, whatever being was holding control over Chara’s mind, it must have been doing to the same to this human’s body. If they reset now, this human wouldn’t be under the control of that entity anymore. If they reset, Chara could guide them to Asgore! The monsters already have six souls, right? It seemed most monsters were hunting for the last human anyway, so it wouldn’t be too hard to find one competent enough to bring the soul to Asgore.
Even if they’d never be alive enough to truly enjoy it, even if no one would know they helped, Chara had to make it up to monsterkind. They’ve suffered so much at Chara’s hand, it’s time for Chara to finally repent. They would fix it. They had to.
For Mom, for Dad,
For Asriel.
“Greetings, Human. I am Chara,” they said, “and I think we are going to be best friends.”

Basically, post-geno route Chara takes the red soul and defeats the player, then resets to try and not get anyone killed this time.

can you believe Flowey and Papyrus are my favourite UT characters? Excluding multiverse Aus (Swap, Fell, etc.), but still!
Had this collecting dust in my thousands of open tabs, finally opened the poor thing. Worst part is I'm sure I have read it before. BUT ANYWAYS THIS IS REAL GOOD. I love fics where the Fic itself psychoanalyses it's MC :)
Also love characters who don't understand how they're supposed to love. Poor bastards and their unfortunate loved ones.
