The crowd screamed again, oblivious, swept up in the poetry. But Nico felt his throat close, his heart hammering against his ribs.
Lewis hadn’t said his name. He hadn’t needed to. Every syllable was a Silver Arrow aimed straight at him.
Sebastian’s brows shot up, Max smirked with a teenager’s glee, and Simon (just off to the side) folded his arms with the faintest flicker of a knowing smile.
Nico tried to steady his hand, tried to keep his voice level as he lifted the mic back to his lips. But God, it felt like 2016 all over again, only now the words weren’t just rivalry. They were something far more dangerous.
The crowd in Singapore erupted as though the city itself had caught fire.
The moment Lewis dropped those words, somewhere that isn’t 300 kilometres an hour and someone close but you’ve only admired from afar, every grandstand, every Sky Sports viewer, every reporter in the paddock went wild.

“No more hiding,” Lewis said, voice low, rough with all the things he’d carried for years. “No more flowers without a name. No more waiting in alleys hoping you’ll turn up.” His gaze flicked down to Nico’s hand, to the scrawl of L x still visible at the card’s corner, then back up. His chest rose sharp as he added, steady and final.
“It’s me, Nico. Your admirer. It’s always been me.”
Nico’s throat bobbed, lips parting but no sound coming out.
Lewis leaned in closer, not touching, not yet: just pressing the weight of his presence, his determination, into the space between them. “I’m done running. I’m done letting pride choke me. You wanted to know who it was? You’ve known all along.”
The replay whispered faintly in the background, Lewis’s own words echoing: someone I’ve admired from afar.
This time, there was no mistaking who he meant.

oh my gosh i cant believe it ended! i devoured the whole thing in one day and now im having this sort of empty feeling you get when you're done reading a once-in-a-lifetime book, i cant wait for the nearest future when i can read this fic again and i remember the feeling it gave me and the plot but the details are a bit foggy so it makes me just as emotional as i first read it. This one is going to stay with me forever.
