Summary
Two months after the strike, Jack Kelly abruptly packs everything he owns and purchases a one way ticket to Santa Fe. As he leaves, he tells his boys to wait for his letters, promises to write by January. By the end of March, there's still no word from him, and most of the Newsies are convinced he's dead.
Crutchie Morris, on the other hand, has never been so furious in his life. At Jack for abandoning them, at the boys for thinking he's dead, and at himself, for not going with him. So, when Racetrack Higgins comes to him with a pocketful of winnings and an offer to head west and find his brother, he accepts. They set out for Santa Fe, and Crutchie is determined to kick Jack's (100% alive) ass into next week.

“Because I’m one of them!” Davey snapped.
He clapped his hand to his mouth. All the anger that filled his skull seeped out in an instant. In its place came fear. Icy cold as the gravity of what he had said struck him. His mother stared at him with something between shock and hurt.
She looked up at Mayer with teary eyes. “Our son’s a faggot. How… what did we do wrong?” She cried into Mayer’s arms.
“Leave. Now.” Mayer gritted. The words were final, leaving no room for rebuttal. Not that Davey had any. He could not stand being in the restaurant any longer than he had to.

Or, Davey comes out in the midst of an argument and gets kicked out. Thankfully, Jack is there for the fallout.

Summary
A tragedy occurs in the Jacobs family, preventing David and Sarah from getting into college. As much as Davey adores his family, he can't stand the feeling of guilt anymore and packs up his life to move to a small but lively village in the English countryside. Jack Kelly, who had no interest of attending college, spontaneously follows him out of the country, accidentally forcing his friend, Antonio, into it. The three of them eventually make themselves at home. Soon they notice strange things happening in the town, and are curious to investigate.
This is inspired Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series of books.

Crimson splattered across the pavement and the boy, barely over 14, fell to the ground with a thud. As his back hit concrete, he felt blood rise in his throat, coughing. The boy inhaled sharply, and he felt sick as he saw glistening clots of his own blood, rimmed with plasma and pooling on the ground. “That’s the last time you be stealing from my shop, blondie.” This caused the blood to come up in a wave, and the boy spat it up over his clothes with an “ack-”. The man spat on the cement, giving the boy a firm kick to the chest. The man was smoking a cigarette, holding it between his fingers and drawing it from his lips as he spoke to the lanky boy.
So, what's black, white, and red all over?

Angstober 2025, alternatively titled "I'm putting Newsies characters through the horrors again".
...But mostly the Delanceys. Again.Oscar jerks away.
"Fuck," he croaks, and it's almost a bitter laugh. "Christ. Course it's you."
Jack sits back on his knees, letting his hands fall from Oscar's arms.
"You alright?" he asks, just as lowly. There's something gentle in his voice, and Oscar hates it, hates those dark eyes looking at him like that. "Found you like this. An' I…I know—"
Oscar forces himself to his feet and grabs the fence beside him when he staggers. His legs are dead. His knees hurt. His head is pounding.
"Yeah, yeah," he says. "You got your laughs. You gonna fuck off now? Or I gotta make you?"
Jack stands slowly, hands raised in mock defense, still looking at Oscar like he's checking him over. "I ain't laugh," he says quietly, earnestly. -

…So the break up was unexpected. Katherine had realized she just wasn’t into him… anymore. A part of him was glad, but most of the parts were depressed. Another part of him was slowly building up its courage and confidence even though he tried to suppress it. He had loved Kath. And now, for some dumbass reason, he loved Davey. He tried to ignore it. Every time he thought it, he bit his lip until it hurt and told himself no. A relationship like that would never work.
Along with that, unexplainable pains in his throat have been throwing him off, along with splitting headaches. On top of that, he started coughing up blood and mutilated flower petals 2 days ago. He didn’t get what it meant, and he was scared.
“Heya, Dave? You- you’s in school, right?” He asked one day as he and Davey were handing out papes. He put his hat in his bag, counting how many papers he had left as he asked. “Since the strike, yeah. Why?” Davey had replied, cocking his head to the side and grinning. Damn that smile. Damn everything about that boy that made Jack want to be with him forever. Davey obviously doesn't like him. He knew this. So why couldn’t he just stop loving him?

Battered, bruised, and orphaned best friends run for their lives after a terrible fire destroys everything they've known.
The orphans become newsies, working for a penny a paper. As time passes, they work up the ranks of their separate boroughs.
Two of the orphans get sent to the Refuge. They almost lose their lives and their hearts. The trauma brings the boy and girl closer together than ever. They learn to stand up for what's right, without fear.
Jack Kelly does what’s right when he starts the Newsboys Strike of 1899. Josie Conlon does what's right when she stands by his side once again.
Together they will change the ideals of a nation and maybe fall for each other all at once.
