After years of fighting between Hylia, Demise and their allies, Hyrule has been burnt asunder and has been rendered uninhabitable, both sides so beaten down there is barely anyone left to fight. To save the mortal races, Hylia devised a plan to abandon the surface and send the survivors into the safety of the skies.
The final sky island is about to be raised, but The First Hero cannot shake the feeling that this isn't over. Not yet.

The Chain had been travelling for several hours under a sky that promised thunder and hail and gave them nothing. The air was dry, enough Link’s lips had split and bled like they hadn’t since the eruption in Eldin that blocked out his return to Skyloft – but, as far as he could tell, they were nowhere near Eldin or Death Mountain either. There were trees here, withered looking things with pale leaves barely clinging to life.
“You’re all sure this doesn’t resemble anywhere you’ve been?” Legend repeated, for perhaps the fourth time. He had grabbed another branch down and it snapped in his grasp, raining dying leaves to the ground at their feet.
“Yes,” Time answered. “I’m sure.”

Summary
Having another body, the form of a legendary beast no less, naturally leads to developing some odd habits, behaviours and routines. Instincts are the worst, taking care of a body that is completely anatomically different to a hylian has a steep learning curve, effects bleeding between the two forms make even being hylian strange sometimes, and even once you think you've got it all under control, there's always the inevitable mistake.
Thankfully, when the Links start travelling together, meeting nine other heroes who all share the same spirit and a similar soul, these various quirks are almost normal. Relatable. Understandable, even. Support and empathy are freely given when you're surrounded by people who know what you're going through.
