“Tell me the truth,” she commanded. “How proficient are you right now, wielding that sword on your back? Legend says that an ancient voice resonates inside it. Can you hear it yet, Hero?”
That night, he dreamt again of that moment. His answer had been a mere shake of the head. It was true, after all. He had never heard the voice of the spirit that was supposed to dwell within the blessed sword. And there was no reason to discourage the princess further, making her feel as if she were the only one lacking, by telling her what he had experienced instead. But ever since he had pulled the sword from its pedestal deep in Korok Forest, it had brought him dreams of the Links who had gone before.
OR Link feels like a failure after finding out about his death a hundred years ago. A previous Link has quite a bit to say about that.

Summary
When Mineru’s spirit passes on, her broken construct body is left behind, along with her secret stone. Zelda, Link and the sages can’t let such a powerful ancient artefact fall into the wrong hands. They have two options:
Either, they return the stone to the Spirit Temple, which, while difficult to find in the Depths, is defenceless now that the seals upon it have been removed. Or… They appoint a new sage to carry the secret stone and use it to protect Hyrule.
Choosing the second option is easy, especially when everyone already knows who the new sage will be.
An AU where Wild gets Mineru's secret stone after the true ending to TOTK, and where the Chain is more in sync with their inner beasts.

This new Hyrule was strange. Legend didn't know if it was something about the air, or the skies or anything else, but something about it was fundamentally different from the realms they'd seen before.
Whatever they were meant to do in this Hyrule, they needed to figure it out quickly, because whatever kingdom they were in was on the brink of war.

Now, with the chain traveling through time and space with you at their side as they fight the black-blooded monsters and You and Hylia getting into arguments of what you should reveal to the chain about your suspicions, currently at a standstill. But in the times the quest is eating them, you sing songs from your world to ease the heroes.

When the Chain finds an ancient skeleton they realise that there was a Link who lived long before them, and that he needs help in order to finally rest. But something dark is snapping at their heels, seemingly desperate to derail their mission and stop the First from finding peace.
