Summary
Unable to kill countless innocent lives Link decides not to wake the Wind Fish and instead stays in the dream taking Marin as his wife. He starts a family, settling down and thus becoming Koholint's defender, and subsequently abandoning Hyrule. And though Zelda haunts his dreams and hos horrible guilt eats at his consciousness constantly, his family helps him get by. However the darkness within the dream grows stronger and more dangerous with the more guilt that builds up, leading to terrible things happening to both Mabe and Link's family. Its the beginning of the end for Koholint.

Fruit went tumbling out of a basket she was carrying, and Link scurried to help her pick them up. “I’m so sorry!”
Link looked up to finally get a good look at her, his eyes meeting hers and then proceeding to widen. “Malon?”
She shook her head. “Sorry, you must have me confused with someone else."
...All the familiar faces that Link has met over the years have some meaning to him, one way or another. From the guy who reminds him of his uncle, to the simpering girl who looks like a crazy one he met on an uncharted island, to eight others wearing versions of his own face. One in particular, though, meant more to him than any other in any world or era.
