Jayce has never had any interest in woodworking, so he makes the box out of metal. He chooses pewter because that’s what they have that will look nice and it turns out to be perfect. He realizes he can stamp the Talis logo into the lid and add matching filigree detailing around the edges. The hinges he does in gold as an accent, and to match the gift inside. As soon as it’s finished, he packs and polishes everything up, then takes the box to Viktor.
“Oh.” Viktor says softly upon opening it. When he turns his head up to pin Jayce with a surprised look, his eyes cycle colors, “You made me balls.”

The device is sleek. A bronze-colored cylinder with a hexgem nestled at one end, forming the handle. From the opposite side, a thin rod extends a few inches, rounded at the tip. Still in the case are two more rods that can be swapped with the one already installed. One is a longer version of the current rod, and the other possesses a series of bumps, much like stacked beads. Three buttons serve as controls. The entire thing is polished to a high shine, entirely smooth to avoid irritation.

She swears she can see yes forming on Vi’s lips, wishes more than anything that it’s on the tip of her tongue, and her need for that to be true feels all-consuming. Jinx keeps going, figures she’s going to make sure this burned bridge can never be repaired.
“There’s no right or wrong, just ways to go about being able to look at yourself in the mirror without hating who looks back. Would you hate yourself if you did this? Or do you hate yourself for having to push this part of yourself down?”
Vi stiffens, like a feral animal that’s deciding between fight or flight, tries to shut down, straining as she tries to keep her emotions at bay.
“I grew up, Vi. I’m not a child anymore. I make the decisions I want to make, and I don’t need to be protected from them. I’m back. I can be back. For good. For you. Tell me you don’t think about this, too.”
Jinx is back after a year and a half away post war, and she wants to make amends for the damage she's done. Intentions and healing and the chance to truly resolve missteps all shift; rerouting to what was carved out and set in stone, all this time.
