He couldn’t help but feel a nausea hanging heavy in the pits of his stomach. The enormity of his desire disgusted him. He had damned the two with his want.

Long gone: about how Paul wants nothing more than to be in John’s life forever, it can be interpreted as his feelings after the breakup, or 1980.
How a Boy: about the internalized Homophobia a boy would have in 1950/1960’s Britain. Where homosexuality is not only demonized but a crime. Internalized homophobia exists now and especially then. This poem is my interpretation of what I see as Paul’s “internalized homophobia”
