Summary
This is my second fic in my series examining how some of my favorite side characters manifested their signet(s).
This was inspired by the Rider’s Quadrant Winter Prompt-Fest to answer the prompt: Anyone other than Violet, Xaden and Sloane and how they first manifested their signet(s). What happened? What triggered it? How did they/their dragon/their squadmates react? And most importantly - WHY that signet for that person???

I open the book.
“Well there is a map of the Continent and of Basgiath, huh.” I show everyone quickly.
"The following text has been faithfully transcribed from Navarrian into the modern language by Jesinia Neilwart, Curator of the Scribe Quadrant at Basgiath War College. All events are true, and names have been preserved to honor the courage of those fallen. May their souls be commended to Malek.” -Fourth Wing
I pause and we all look towards Jesinia who blushes while Ridoc translates for her. He says while signing, “Well, at least we know you make it out alive.”

Summary
Imogen didn’t weep when her mother and sister burned for their part in the rebellion. She couldn’t afford to. The kingdom of Navarre had already decided her fate. Survival was a distant hope, a cruel joke in a world that wanted them dead.

In exchange for their lives, he would take their punishment and they, in turn, would be given one impossible chance: to enter the Riders Quadrant at Basgiath War College. When the Venin are revealed to not only be draining the land but creating creatures of nightmare that one kingdom call Darkspawn, the alliances between kingdoms of new and old are becoming fickler and more dangerous. Dragon riders, Magical kind, and fighters of all species, loyalties, and powers are required to face what could be the end of their worlds. Childhood friends joining into a fierce bond that cannot be broken may be the only way to move these tenuous alliances forward.

Winter has settled over Basgiath in the way it always does – harshly, decisively, and with absolutely no consideration for the fact that there is something very very wrong with the marked ones. Violet, however, cannot for the life of her figure out what that something is, and if there is one thing that Violet Sorrengail is unable to let go of, it’s a problem she does not yet know the answer to.

Summary
This is a canon rewrite AU where ten cadets come together to form a single squad, fighting the venin as a united front — and, in the process, reshaping the very code of Basgiath and the Riders Quadrant.
Because the original story often left side characters and dragons underdeveloped, this version focuses on expanding their personalities, relationships, and importance. It’s a group portrait in which everyone is a hero, not just a single character’s story. As a result, some characters may feel out of character (OOC) compared to canon — this is intentional. Characters like Naolin, who died in the original, are alive here and play major roles.
Xaden steps fully into his role as the leader he was meant to be, and the central relationship is Xaden × Bodhi. Their bond is emotional and central to the plot, but there will be no explicit scenes.
This AU also aims to heal broken relationships — particularly between parents and children — and to fix certain questionable plot points from canon. Most importantly, this is a world where everyone survives — alive, whole, and together.

This is a rewrite of my previous fic “The Wingleader – Xaden’s POV”. It’s a Fourth Wing retelling from Xaden’s POV with new Iron Flame updates. It follows the dialogue and chapter timeline from Fourth Wing with my own interpretations and theories of Xaden’s actions and feelings.
Do not read if you haven’t finished both FW AND IF - major spoilers from BOTH books throughout!

Imogen Cardulo's life doesn't begin with her breaking Violet Sorrengail's arm on Assessment Day and there is much more going on with her than what Violet sees. She is more than a side character this time around.
Once upon a time, because that is how all stories begin, she was just another teenage girl - a little rebellious, a little more reckless than her parents would have preferred, a typically annoying little sister... an awesome friend or a pain in the ass (depending on the day and which one of her friends you asked) and she had a not so little or subtle crush on Garrick Tavis, but who can blame her for that?
Then all the adults in her life went to war and the course of her life changed drastically.
This is her story, in her own words. Starting from the Apostasy and covering all the high and lows, all the joyful moments and the heartbreaks, all the victories and the mistakes and giving us a look into her relationships with Xaden, Bodhi, Quinn and especially Garrick.
