I've been reading the canon Doyle texts and had an idea for a wholly original version of Mystrade that would meld with the Victorian ACD version of Sherlock Holmes, though this is very much an original retelling. I've always liked the concepts of an unreliable narrator, and Dr. John Watson could easily be made a version of this, his stories of his adventures with Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective perhaps not quite so trustworthy as one might assume. Thus, this kind of fell out of my mind, and I'm not at all sure where to put it. I might continue on with a larger work based on this, it's still in the mind doodle phase. The ACD works are in the public domain which is why so many versions of Sherlock exist and have been professionally published/produced--Proof, in case anyone needed it, that fanfiction does have literary merit!

Summary
It's not every day you find yourself being read by another person. Then again, you make sure to keep some time away from others just to get a breath of fresh air and to clear your mind from the overload of information. These two at Baker Street are really something odd...but these cases they go on, as dangerous as they can be, are really not all that bad. You just wished the obnoxious tall one would stop trying to read you like you were one of his many cases! If he wanted to know so much, the least he could do is ask you outright. Was that so hard?
For a man like Sherlock Holmes, apparently that would be just too damn easy. Besides, how could he resist such a tempting challenge?
