Summary
It wasn't at all common to form a bond from a single mating, but it wasn't entirely unheard of. An early bond was considered an indication of high compatibility between a kunze and a qianyuan, an auspicious start to a mateship, and an excellent sign for the health and strength of any future children.
Lan Qiren was a strong cultivator, a learned scholar, and well respected. Jiang Cheng could certainly do worse for the sire of his children.

He makes a good point, Wei Wuxian thinks, considering they probably shouldn't be telling everyone the Yiling Patriach is back, and wait—
Wanyin?? When did they get so close?

Jin Ling and Lan Sizhui finally get Lan Zhan and Jiang Cheng together and then Wei Wuxian comes stumbling back into their lives like he never left.

It was supposed to be an easy night hunt; and it would’ve been, had Xiao Xingchen not developed a fever the night before they were supposed to depart. His fever had lessened by morning, but Song Lan had refused to let him come, stating on no uncertain terms that he should prioritize recovery while Song Lan handled the hunt.
Xingchen had grumbled and whined but when Song Lan had declined to reconsider, he’d acquiesced. He had however fretted over Song Lan the entire time he had been packing, making anxious jokes about "However will you be able to nighthunt without me A-Lan?” and worriedly making him promise to be back “You are the best of us all, A-Lan. I know that. It would still ease my mind to have you swear to come back to me safely.” He’d sworn as easily as breathing, because where else would he go? What else could he do but return to Xingchen?

Huli jing Wei Ying is perfectly content living in lazy obscurity in an out-of-the-way town that hasn't been visited by a cultivation sect in a century. His peaceful foxy life is over when the town's richest young master is murdered and his family calls Yunmeng Jiang to investigate. Even worse: They are hunting for a huli jing!
A smart fox would run from trouble but Wei Ying has never known any trouble he wouldn't run towards, so he elbows his way into the investigation instead. This is his territory, not a free-for-all buffet! Or maybe he just wants to keep flirting with the prettiest cultivator Jiang Cheng and his chiselled cheekbones.

Teenager Lan Jingyi is a vlogger obsessed with the Yiling Patriarch, who's supposed to have died thirteen years ago under mysterious circumstances. Jingyi however is convinced there was a major conspiracy to take down the Yiling Patriarch, involving international secret societies, corrupt cultivator politics, and quite possibly aliens (one of these is true). While shooting a vlog with his friends in an abandoned town rife with resentful energy, they are rescued from fierce corpses by a rogue cultivator named Mo Xuanyu. Lan Wangji, for some unfathomable reason, keeps calling him Wei Ying. Jin Ling is irritated, Sizhui is acting weird, and Ouyang Zizhen keeps asking Hanguang Jun and Senior Mo about their sun signs. Meanwhile, there are traces of dark cultivation in Yi City. Are they getting closer to the truth behind the Yiling Patriarch? Or is there a different demonic cultivator playing cat and mouse with them?
