Hiding has long ceased to be an option in this place. Running has always been futile. To survive, sacrifices of every variety must be made. Most of all, one must be willing to adapt as an animal does, even if it's playing into the whims of one far more powerful than you could hope to become.

Paradox has become one of "The Wretched", though perhaps they always were. With this metaphorical adaptation, they find themself no longer able to just give up, nor throw away the chances they've had brought upon them. There will be no 'good ending' for them alone. Having worked for UrbanShade for 4 years you felt secure in your position as on site medic on hadal, clearance level one. However, curiosity getting the better of you one night after your usual nightshift ended up getting you trapped under the needle and wrath of a doctor you used to look up to. It was either this or death, not like they really were so different.
Losing your life or slowly losing your humanity? At UrbanShade, it's the same thing. Not like they gave you the option, either.
However, even after a few years of making blacksite your hunting ground driven only of primal hunger alone you break from your instincts to realize you're not the only one. A shopkeeper, A Saboteur, A Familiar genetic code, kinship calls to you like a beacon of hope, How would you though? it's a little hard to navigate the hallways when you're built for water, and the constant fear of dwindling into some feral beast eating away at your soul, but you'll try. An encounter with the shopkeeper while scavenging for supper yields interesting results.

Porter had served only three years of his life sentence, and he was getting pretty tired of it. How convenient that on the eve of his incarceration-versary, an eerily charming man convinces him and his fellow inmates to accept his company’s insane offer. It was too good to be true, but “high chance of death” be damned, Porter was finally getting out of there.
Of course the reality of the deal he’d been given finally hit him once he found himself practically buried alive thousands of metres below sea level.
