They weren’t going back to Pegasus. Teyla would never see Torren and Kanaan again. Like Teal’c, they were to become prisoners under the Mountain until such times as their loyalty was proven. But though Ronon would kill or die for many of the people here, he had no loyalty to the country that had decided Atlantis was a weapon it wanted for itself.

Summary
Every room that Ronon walks into, people turn and look. Some are more subtle about it than others. It's understandable. They don't know anything about him. He can still sense their curiosity pressing in, and it makes him feel way too exposed.
McKay, though— even if he's directly in her eyeline, Ronon is pretty sure that any awareness of his existence is getting filtered out somewhere between her eyes and her brain. It's the kind of thing he might take personally, except she's clearly not trying to ice him out. She's just like that with everyone.
(A remix/prequel story in the same universe as avocadomoon's "Truth Be Told" and Anagrrl's "A Conversation," where the lead scientist on the Atlantis expedition is Meredith McKay.)

Ronon shrugged. “Nothing.”
“You were staring.”
He said nothing.
“Any particular reason why?” he pressed. When Ronon didn't answer, McKay huffed and narrowed his eyes, straightening as he lifted his chin. “I don't know how it was on Sateda, but where I come from staring is considered rude. Some people can even be killed over something as innocent as glancing in a certain person's direction.”
Ronon raised an eyebrow, amused.
“Not that I'm going to have you killed or anything—that'd be absurd. I'm sure you'd take them out before they reached for their weapons anyway, so that would be kind of a little bit pointless. Anyway, I'd like to know just what about me has you so intrigued, if you don't mind telling. I can't very well go throughout the city with a pair of eyes following me everywhere, now can I, hm?”
His lips curled in a tiny smirk. “Maybe, maybe not. We could put it to a test.”

Summary

Sometimes, his team is all Ronon has. Sheppard is the brother he absolutely wanted (well, younger; he's tough and scrappy, but needs to get his ass kicked every now and again), and McKay was definitely the brother he never wanted (tense, irritating, and even at the best of times, not focused on what mattered so far as threats went).
Teyla reminds him of the sister he did have that he never got to know as well as he would have liked.

Didn't matter. Ronon hated it here. He wanted to be somewhere outside. On the mainland, in Atlantis - anywhere he could see the sun and the stars.
Not stuck down here.And the scientists were talking about staying for days, maybe weeks, to do research into a power supply that might not work at all.
It probably wouldn't be that long. They'd come in on a Jumper, and a rescue Jumper would be arriving soon - but they couldn't have brought that much food with them.
They would have to leave eventually.
