Summary
The unfortunate fact about portals is that they, very frequently, lead to somewhere else. Now, when a potential traveler is aware both of the existence of a particular portal and prepared for where it will lead, then a portal may prove a boon. This was not the case for the Lady Sif, daughter of Tyr, Shield Maiden of Asgard. Of all times to stumble upon a portal, it would have to have been right then, right when she was most desirous of returning home to Asgard. Of course, it could not lead her to the warm springs and friendly lodging houses of Vanaheim or the quiet sanctity of Alfheim. No, of all places for the portal to lead, it must be to the frigid wasteland of the Frost Giants.
Of all the places for a portal to lead, it must take her to Jotunheim.

Summary
Thor has one chance at saving Jane Foster and he thinks he's willing to take the risks, but he has no idea how many risks will come from this decision. He means well, but he plans poorly for their mission to Svartleheim.
Sif and Loki were childhood sweethearts and one another's first loves. But her complicated feelings for Thor ended their relationship a century ago and they've barely tolerated each other since. Loki becomes vengeful and bitter toward everyone (especially Thor and Sif) and Sif moves on (probably) too quickly for her own healing journey.
After Loki's apparent suicide on the Bifrost, Sif later becomes pregnant with her first and only child. Warrior by day and single mom by night, Sif manages to stitch herself together a life that she's proud of and raises a son she loves more than anything.
Meanwhile, after his war crimes in New York, Loki is imprisoned in the corrupt Asgardian prison system, known for illegal trafficking of prisoners. Sprung from prison for Thor's poorly planned mission, Loki has 1 goal going forward: get killed. Somehow.
But when Thor's scheming goes awry, Sif's son is put in harm's way and she will do anything to keep him safe; even ally herself with Loki.

The Norns once told of a group of six emerging from one of the areas. Born of many different realms, this group is not the wisest, nor is it the strongest. Their paths are wildly different, as are their origins. Not much is known about them, except for a series of confusing sentences.”
Loki, Sif, and Fandral find themselves following Thor into a dangerous patch of woods in Vanaheim. At first their journey is filled with fortune. Unfortunately things take a turn for the worse when Thor goes missing.

His hand advances from her wrist to her forearm. “Indulge me, Sif, just this once?” His breath is mead-sweet but she doesn’t think he’s actually drunk; his cold blue gaze is steady and fixed on her, and there’s no telling tremble from the hand on her arm. The interest that sparks in his eyes hasn’t been gained from a cup; this is a sober seduction, he knows exactly what he’s doing.
And so does Sif. “I may be too low to be your queen,” she tells him, offended by his presumption, “but I was born too high to be willing to make do as your mistress.”
“I could make you queen,” he says, expression thoughtful. “Who would dare to protest?"

Just not during winter because while the part Jotun may be made for it, she is most definitely not. Thankfully the other woman takes her moodiness with graceful ease that does nothing other than remind her why she loves her.
