“How chivalrous.” Keith tries to sound casual, but there’s a breathlessness to his voice, something making the want that’s been tugging in Shiro for months – maybe years, by now – whenever he looks at Keith yet again try to scramble for the surface with renewed vigor, twisting desperately to get free, no matter how badly Shiro tries to hold it down until it drowns. “You’d offer it for me?”
“Of course,” Shiro murmurs. “Can’t have the leader of Voltron catching a cold after I dragged him out here to have my wicked ways with him.”

The door to his private office decompresses. There’s only a handful of people in the entire universe who know the code required to unlock it.
“Please tell me you can summarize the last eighty pages of this in the time it takes to break atmo,” Shiro says without taking his eyes from the datapad.
“Shiro.”
Shiro stops scrolling. His heart kicks---emotion crawling up his throat from those two syllables alone. His grip tightens on the datapad. That wasn’t Allura’s voice. He looks up from his work.
“Keith,” Shiro breathes.
Keith raises a hand in greeting, mouth twitching, bemused at Shiro’s obvious shock. “Surprise.”

"I've been thinking about getting a tattoo." It's obviously not what Keith expected, judging by the flicker of surprise across his face.
"That's… wow. Huh. Cool." Shiro can see him debating with himself before he adds, "I've never heard you talk about wanting one before." It's a question without an asking.
"It's a relatively recent thing," Shiro admits. "But I'm pretty sure I want to do it. It's…" He pauses, grasping at the words to explain why he wants it. "There's a few reasons, but a big part is that I'm choosing it," he finally says. He looks down at where his hands are joined together in his lap, one flesh, one metal. "This isn't the body I was born into, and it's had a lot of stuff done to it I had no say in. But I can choose this." He glances up at Keith, who's watching him with wide eyes, and huffs out a laugh. "It sounds dumb when I put it like that. Like a 'property of' stamp, right?"
Shiro's working to claim this new body as his own while trying to bridge the gap that's opened between him and Keith. It's a bit of a balancing act, and not one he feels at all confident in.

“What happens if it doesn’t work?” Shiro demands, dread rising.
Keith’s gaze drops. “I’ll have to cut my hair,” he says quietly.

As teen heartthrob Takashi Shirogane’s social media manager, Keith has been pretending to be Shiro online for over a year now. He spends so much time tweeting as Shiro and tagging along with him to events that Shiro’s life has pretty much overtaken his. So when he accidentally messages super-fan Lance McClain as Shiro instead of himself, he doesn’t see much of a problem with it. Lance is attractive, popular, and much less likely to talk to Keith as Keith, anyway.
But it turns out Lance is in L.A., too. And he suddenly keeps appearing in Keith’s life.
