After everything that went down at the end of season 7 Eddie is left with no one. His son is traumatized and 1000 miles away with his parents who can barely bother to keep him up to date. He lost both of the women in his life. His best friend is in a fresh relationship that seems to occupy his every waking moment leaving no time for Eddie. Bobby might not be gone gone but it made it so much harder to reach out to the man who had always helped him see straight when he wasn’t at the firehouse anymore. And then there was their new captain. Gerrard was on a war path against anyone who didn’t fit his status quo, everyone except Eddie. So while the rest of his crew bonded together against Gerrard Eddie felt even more isolated from the rest of his family. All of this leading to a downward spiral he doesn’t know how to escape.
I wrote most of this before the promos for season 8 came out so hopefully nothing is too non-canon. So sad I gotta wait until the new season comes out on Disney + to watch it 😔 I guess I’ll just have to read more fics until then.
