Summary
It was supposed to be a game. A childish game of space and aliens. And football. They had to play characters; everyone had a given role, it was supposed to be fun. Father said they had to be good and help him. They owed him for all the love and time he dedicated to them. They were nothing without him anyway. They were unwanted, second-rate human beings, discarded because of how useless they were.
And the game consumed them. The time spent as humans was less and less with each passing day. He was encouraged to be ruthless and cold, praised for his uncaring demeanour. He wasn't sure when the boundaries between the imaginary and reality got so blurred. Or when the kids became the characters they played and the aliens the personas. The aliens couldn't be discarded; they wouldn't allow for that. And Father seemed more proud of the aliens than the kids.
Five years, he said, were what it took to break and rebuild the perfect weapons.

Fudou couldn't deny one thing: the FFI had changed his life. Looking back, he was grateful for the opportunity that Hibiki and Kudou had given him, even if the words were left unspoken. He hoped that deep inside, they knew.
"Don't you miss the old days?" Kidou said, his red gaze lost in the depths of his black coffee. Fudou's lips curled into a wry smile, reminiscing about the challenges he had faced back then.
"When I was struggling financially and fighting with my mother? Not really," he shrugged.
"You know what I mean," the former Raimon player insisted, as his usual annoyed expression lingered on his face.The sight brought a flicker of amusement to the dark-haired one's heart. There were some things he missed from his teenage years: stolen glances, shared smiles, unspoken words, and the weight of the truths they had chosen to keep silent. Deep down, he missed all of it.
"Then, you'll have to be more precise."
