1889 The meeting is disastrous and Hob is left picking up the pieces of his life. Too bad someone took interest in the words shouted in the fray.
1916 Dream is summoned by a novice witch who cares not for the consequences, too driven by his own greed to notice.
1921 Dream's captor hasn't aged a day but his excitement on word of something he's been searching years for is palpable
1922 A letter finds Hob, inviting him to a place he dares not revisit so soon, by son of the man who caused him grief beyond imagining and he declines.
1923 That same letter appears, an apology and invitation to a dinner to express the mistakes of the father is made and Hob decides enough is enough. Sons weren't their fathers and it was time to fix the present.
December 1923 Hob meets his stranger once again

With the power of the starlight flower, Queen Night could be saved, and it didn’t take long before she gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Prince Dream of the Endless. He was a miracle, with hair that shone silver with stardrops and eyes as blue as the sky on a clear day. A pout graced his lips far more often than a smile, but his sheer existence brought a smile to the townsfolk nonetheless.
And for a full year, the kingdom lived in bliss.
That was, until one fateful night, the young Prince was taken. King Time went to check on his son and only found an empty crib where the Prince should have been, an open window, and the stench of evil. On that day, the kingdom lost its brightest star in the night sky, and an old sorcerer gained a gem he did not own.

Hob approaches and peers through the pristine glass storefront, only to freeze in his tracks. There is some sort of martial art class going on, and there, in the centre of a gleaming wooden floor, stands a man who can only be described as ethereal. Tall and lithe, with skin as pale as moonlight and hair darker than a raven's feather, he moves with a feline grace as he demonstrates some kind of punching combo, his body rotating with impossible fluidity.
“Christ,” Hob mutters, leaning so close his nose almost touches the glass.

When Dream becomes ill enough out of fear of missing work to require surgery, the hospital calls his queerplatonic partner Jessamy as his emergency contact. In the aftermath, Dream must finally accept he cannot do further good at his job and needs to prioritize himself, and their relationship will undergo further changes as they both deal with what's happened.
